Men's Retreat Speaker: Joel DeSousa

"I grew up in Hiawatha and began attending Cedar Valley Bible Church around 1973 when I trusted Christ Jesus as my Savior. I met my wife Sue in college in 1976 over a broken leg; the rest is history...Marriage, seminary, CVBC youth director, little kids, CVCS principal, school age kids, CVBC lead teacher on Sundays, adult children and grandkids - these are highlights from life's timeline. Proverbs 3:5-6 really is the best way to live life."

Joel holds a BA in Bible from Faith Baptist Bible College (1978), a BA in History from the University of Iowa (1979) and ThM in Old Testament Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary (1984).

NEW SERMON SERIES STARTING August 9!
Ezra: God can bring back anyone | By Pastor Steve Benton

The southern tribes of Israel had wandered far from God. So, God used the Babylonians to take them captive to get their attention. But He also promised that He would bring them back to their land (see Jer. 29:10). The book of Ezra reminds us that God always does what He says He will do. Jesus always welcomes the wanderer home. If you want to be closer to God, come be encouraged by the book of Ezra. Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest (NLT).”
