Dear Family of God,
We were not able to record our worship service at Catlin this morning, so we are sharing Oakwood’s service with you today. While we may not have a worship recording from our own sanctuary, we are grateful that we gathered in our special sanctuary together in worship as the family of God.

Today’s service was a beautiful reminder that the church is a people, a family where we learn to love one another as Christ has loved us. The church is a community where we belong, where we are welcomed, and where we grow together in God’s love and grace.

Please take a few minutes to listen to Ben and Amanda’s beautiful song, beginning around 41:30. I think it will be a blessing to you.

Wherever you find yourself today, know that we are so glad you are a part of our church family. This is the place!

Dear Family of God,
Tonight is the Catlin Lions Club Annual Fish Fry! Come enjoy supper, a round of bingo, and participate in the cake walk. It is a fun evening with friends and neighbors!

The Lions Club does so much to give back to our community- supporting our Salt Fork schools, local churches, and community organizations. What a wonderful example of neighbors caring for neighbors!

Come out, have some fun, and support the Catlin Lions Club!

Dear Family of God,
As we gather for worship this Sunday, we come as we are- with our joys and sorrows, gratitude and grief, burdens and hopes. In this season, we are reminded of how much we need one another and how important the church is throughout the seasons of our lives.

The church is more than a building or a place we gather on Sunday morning. The church is a family of God’s people- a place where we come as we are, where our tears are understood, where our spirits are nurtured, where we find grace and compassion, and where we experience the love of God through the care of others.

This Sunday, we will reflect on Jesus’ call to love one another as he loves us. We will reflect on what it means to make God’s love visible through the way we care for one another and serve the world around us.

We will also be blessed by special music from Ben and Amanda as they sing “This Is the Place” by the Gaither Vocal Band. The song beautifully reminds us of the sacred place the church is in our lives- a place where we pray, a place where we cry, a place where we find forgiveness and grace, a place where we share the table, and a place where we walk together through life.

My prayer is that our worship this Sunday will remind us that we do not do life alone. We are held by God’s love, and we are held by one another.

This Sunday marks the fifth Sunday in August. In that spirit, we are cooperating with our sister church for worship. The service will be held at Oakwood at 9:15. Brunch to follow worship. See you Sunday!

Dear Family of God,
What a gift it was to bless our fifth mat during worship last Sunday. Many hands went into weaving this particular mat as we began to weave this mat during Vacation Bible School. Well done, good and faithful servants. Thank you, Christine, for graciously taking the mat to the Dwelling Place on behalf of the church. We are grateful to do our part in helping the Dwelling Place continue to serve those experiencing homelessness in our area. Onward to mat #6.

Dear Family of God,
There are seasons of life when we are in the valley of the shadow of death- when we are facing illness, grief, uncertainty, disappointment, loneliness, the weight of all that is happening around us.

This Sunday, we will gather around the beautiful promise God offers to us in Psalm 23:4- “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for you are with me.”

God does not promise that we will never walk through valleys. God does promise us that we will never walk through our valleys alone. The Good Shepherd meets us in our valleys, walks beside us, carries us when we are weary, and leads us toward the light of God.

If you find yourself in a valley right now- or if you need to be reminded of God's promise that God is with us- come worship with us this Sunday.

Come as you are. Come with your joys, your burdens, your cares, and your hopes.

God is with us. We are not alone.
