I SURVIVED. NOW HOW DO I LIVE AGAIN?
You survived the abuse. You found the strength to leave. But what happens when the relationship ends and the emotional wounds remain?

Surviving and living are two different things!

In Part 3 of my Domestic Violence Awareness Series on "K’s Essence", we're talking about healing, rediscovering your identity, rebuilding your confidence, and learning to embrace life after domestic violence.

Isaiah 43:19 "Behold, I will do a new thing..."

"The Essence of It All:" Your past may be part of your story, but it does not have to define your future. You deserve more than survival. You deserve to LIVE!

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN THE CHURCH: LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!
What happens when the abuser is a deacon, minister, major tithe payer or even the PASTOR himself?
Does his title protect him? Does his financial influence buy silence? And where does a woman turn when the person she needs protection from is standing behind the pulpit?
In Part 2 of my Domestic Violence Awareness Series on **K’s Essence**, we're confronting uncomfortable truths about patriarchy, spiritual authority, misplaced loyalty, and domestic violence in the church.
I LOVE the church, but loving the church means holding its leadership accountable!
The Essence of It All: The church cannot preach deliverance on Sunday and demand silence from the wounded on Monday.

DIFFERENT FACE, SAME MAN!

Have you ever looked back over your relationships and realized that although the men had different names and different faces, you kept experiencing the SAME problems?

Different man. Same disrespect.

Different relationship. Same manipulation.

Different face. SAME MAN!

Are we ignoring red flags because we're attracted to the person waving them?

In Part One of my three-part Domestic Violence Awareness Series on K’s Essence, we're having an honest conversation about recognizing warning signs, identifying unhealthy patterns, and understanding the difference between LOVE and CONTROL.

Remember, abuse is NEVER the victim's fault. But recognizing the signs can help us make informed decisions and protect ourselves.

Proverbs 4:23 (KJV) "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."

Sometimes statistics can feel like just numbers, until we remember that every number represents a person.
A woman. A child. A mother. A daughter. A friend. A coworker. A church member.
Domestic violence does not discriminate by income, education, race, social status, or faith. It can happen in any community, and yes, it can happen behind the doors of our churches.
During DVAM 2026, I want us to do more than look at statistics. I want us to understand the people behind them.
Someone may be sitting beside us on Sunday morning smiling, praising God, and carrying a burden they have told no one about.
That is why awareness matters. That is why listening matters. That is why creating safe places for people to speak matters.
We cannot help what we refuse to acknowledge.
Church, family, and community, let's educate ourselves, recognize the signs, support survivors, and refuse to allow silence to protect abuse.

We have to talk about domestic violence in the Church.

The Church should never become a hiding place for abuse simply because we are uncomfortable talking about it. We cannot be so concerned about protecting reputations, marriages, titles, or ministries that we forget to protect people.

When someone says, “I am being abused,” our first response should not be, “What did you do?” “Have you prayed?” “Just forgive.” or “You need to stay and make your marriage work.”
We should listen. Believe. Support. Help them find safety and connect them with appropriate resources.

Yes, we believe in marriage. Yes, we believe in forgiveness. Yes, we believe in the power of prayer. But none of those should ever be weaponized to keep someone silent or unsafe.
Proverbs 31:8 tells us to “Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.”

Church, we cannot preach healing while asking hurting people to hide their wounds.
Our churches should be places where healing lives—not where abuse hides.

DVAM 2026 | Daughters of the King (Power & Control Wheel)
Domestic violence is not always a black eye, a bruise, or a broken bone. Sometimes it looks like someone controlling your money, monitoring your phone, isolating you from family and friends, constantly criticizing you, using your children against you, intimidating you, or making you believe everything is your fault.
The Power & Control Wheel helps us recognize an important truth: abuse is often a pattern of behaviors designed to gain and maintain power and control over another person.
And yes, these behaviors can happen inside the Church too. A title, position, marriage certificate, or Scripture should never be used as a weapon to control, intimidate, manipulate, or silence another person.
Healthy love does not require you to live in fear.
As we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month 2026, take a moment to study this wheel. You may recognize something you have experienced, or something happening to someone you love.
Learn the signs. Believe survivors. Share resources. Speak up.
And to every Daughter of the King, remember:
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God…” Isaiah 41:10 KJV

DVAM 2026 Kickoff
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and once again, Daughters of the King, a S.O.I.R.E.E. initiative, is committed to using our voice to educate, encourage, and bring awareness to domestic violence, including the conversations we sometimes hesitate to have within the Church.
Throughout the next 31 days, we'll talk about the many forms of abuse, recognize warning signs, share resources, encourage survivors, and remind every woman of her God-given worth and identity.
Our foundation remains Isaiah 41:10 (KJV): “Fear thou not; for I am with thee…”
You are seen. You have value. You have dignity. And you are still a Daughter of the King.
Join us throughout October. Learn. Listen. Share.
