Happy Labor Day, friends!🐾🇺🇸

Today is a day to celebrate and give thanks for all the hardworking people who keep our communities going! From teachers and nurses to firefighters, police officers, first responders, farmers, business owners, and everyone who works hard each day to serve others—thank you!

I’m especially thankful for all the wonderful people I get to meet through my work as one of the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs. Every day, I get to see kindness, compassion, and people using their gifts to make a difference.

I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day filled with family, friends, and rest!

I always love visiting my friends at The Sharing Place, Foundation for Lutheran Child and Family Services! They work so hard to help our neighbors in need by providing food and support to families in our community.

I’m so glad I got to spend some time with them, share a few smiles, and give them a little love and encouragement. Sometimes a little puppy love is just what you need to keep going!

Keep up the amazing work, my friends! I’m so proud of all you do to care for our community!

🐾 Today is National Dog Day, and we want to take this day to celebrate for providing moments of comfort and peace to our residents, staff, and neighbors. We are so grateful for the Comfort Dog team and Cornerstone Lutheran Church for all you do.

Today is a very special day for dogs everywhere—and I have to say, I think it’s pretty pawsome!

I’m especially thankful that God gave me the opportunity to be one of the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs. Every day I get to meet new friends, share some love, and remind people that they are never alone. ❤️

Being a dog is pretty great… but being a Comfort Dog and getting to serve others is the greatest blessing of all!

So today, give your favorite dog an extra hug, a few extra treats, and lots of love! And don’t forget to thank God for the wonderful gift that dogs are.

Wow…what a few days it has been! We have been out and about across our community, bringing comfort, love, and lots of hugs to those impacted by flooding.

We started in Hamilton County home to two of our Cornerstone Lutheran Church sites—(Carmel and Fishers)—and then headed into Marion County, where our Indianapolis and Warren sites are located. We’ve visited flood relief centers, shelters, churches, parks, and neighborhoods, meeting so many people who are hurting and doing our best to remind them that they are not alone.

Our time in the Ravenswood neighborhood has been especially meaningful. We quickly learned that this area was underserved with volunteers and resources, so we knew we needed to keep showing up. We’ve met incredible people, shared countless hugs, prayed with people, and watched our Cornerstone family and others come together to help this community begin the long road to recovery.

We even made some pretty special connections along the way—connecting people with resources, volunteers, cleanup help, donations, and other organizations that can lend a hand. It has been amazing to see how God brings people together when there is a need.

Now we are taking some time to rest and regroup, but we’re already talking about how to comtinue to serve our new friends. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, donated, prayed, or simply stopped to give us a hug. We’re honored to serve our community

Today was another busy day out in our community!

We headed a few miles south to the Ravenswood neighborhood, (Ravenswood Community Group) where the entire area was affected by the recent flooding. Many of our new friends were just getting back into their homes and beginning the long, difficult process of cleaning up and putting their lives back together.

Our team was so grateful to spend some time with a few of the families today, offering what we do best—lots of love, comfort, listening ears, and a little hope in the middle of a very difficult time.

We’ll be back tomorrow to continue serving our new friends. And this time, we’re bringing more than just our paws—we are going to bring some friends, who are ready to lend a hand and help with some of the physical work of the cleanup, too!

To our new friends in Ravenswood: thank you for welcoming us into your neighborhood. We’re praying for you, and we’ll keep showing up for you! ❤
