Daily Devotional | Taste and See
Psalm 34:4–5, 8 (KJV)
“O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
There is a difference between knowing about God and experiencing the goodness of God for ourselves.
David doesn’t simply tell us that God is good. He gives us an invitation: “O taste and see.”
Come closer. Seek Him. Trust Him. Experience Him.
Sometimes we recognize God’s goodness through an answered prayer or an unexpected blessing. Other times, we discover it in quieter ways, in strength that arrives when we thought we had none left, peace in the middle of uncertainty, forgiveness we didn’t deserve, or a door God closed that we later realized was protecting us.
David understood this personally. Earlier in this Psalm he writes, “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” His confidence in God’s goodness wasn’t simply something he had been taught. It was something he had lived.
The same invitation is extended to us.
God’s goodness does not mean that every day will be easy or that every prayer will be answered exactly as we expect. It means that through every season, God remains faithful. His character doesn’t change when our circumstances do.
Perhaps today you’re celebrating an answered prayer. Give thanks.
Perhaps you’re still waiting for one. Keep trusting.
Perhaps you’re walking through something you don’t understand. Keep seeking Him.
Faith grows when we begin looking back and recognizing all the places where God’s hand was present, even when we couldn’t see it at the time.
Every answered prayer.
Every act of mercy.
Every moment of grace.
Every unexpected provision.
Every new morning.
They are reminders that the LORD is good.
Today, don’t simply hear about His goodness.
Taste and see it for yourself.
