Jezebel's Deceptive Workplace Tactics:
A Prophetic Briefing
The Jezebel spirit and how it operates, particularly in the workplace. But we won't just rely on my own experiences and observations; we'll ground this teaching firmly in the Word of God. The Jezebel Spirit is cunning and manipulative beyond measure. It is not confined to faith based settings, but seeks to thrive wherever it finds space to dominate, control, and manipulate others. It operates in the shadows, using underhanded and deceptive methods to achieve its wicked ends. Let me show you the five key ways this Jezebel spirit manifests in the workplace:
Smooth-Tongued Slander: "Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered" (Proverbs 11:13). The Jezebel spirit is marked by a duplicitous tongue - sweet words in public, but venomous slander in private. They sow seeds of discord through their venomous words, turning one person against another.
False Victimhood: "The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent ignores an insult" (Proverbs 12:16). They position themselves as the poor, helpless victims, all the while controlling the entire situation from behind the scenes. They want your sympathy so they can maintain their grip on power and influence.
Relational Espionage: "Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered" (Proverbs 11:13). They will draw close to you, not out of genuine care and fellowship, but to gather information that they can use to create chaos and division within the organization. They are corporate spies, feeding off the secrets of others.
Emotional Manipulation: "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1). Jezebel is an expert in using guilt, shame, and inappropriate influence to bend others to their will. They make you feel indebted to them, or that you are a bad person if you do not comply with their demands.
Violent Resistance: "A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back" (Proverbs 29:11). When confronted with truth, the Jezebel spirit reacts with disproportionate anger and defensiveness, rather than receiving correction with humility.
Discerning and Dismantling the Spirit
The Scriptures make it clear that this is not merely a matter of difficult personalities, but a spiritual battle. As the apostle Paul reminds us, "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12).
But take heart! For we have been given the full armor of God to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Pray without ceasing, walk in the Spirit, and do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).
Let us create workplaces and communities that reflect the values of God's Kingdom: unity, transparency, and a spirit of honor. This Jezebel spirit has no place there. Let us take back what rightfully belongs to the Lord! Dr. Delisa Rodgers.
