If you're ever wondering what to tell a child about death, if you're ever wondering what to tell your grandchild about death, talk to them about Jesus. Tell them about how dead people come back. How there was a man named Jesus Christ and he died and he came back to life. And since Jesus did that, that's going to happen to us too. One day in this world because of our sin, yeah, we die. But then we'll come back to life. And when that day happens, you will be carried by an angel. And you will see beautiful angels singing songs to Jesus. And they will bring you to a room, a room full of so many people. So many people you can't even count them. and you'll be given a white robe. That's what everyone's wearing. And they're holding a palm branch and they're singing praises to Jesus. And it will be awesome and it will be wonderful. And our whole family is going to be together when that day comes. That's what you say. That's what you tell people in the face of death. That because of Jesus, we have a wonderful day waiting for us. Because of Jesus, we are saints who live forever!

Galatians 5:1-6
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

Your body is preaching to you a sermon, especially as you grow older. Think about all the time and money that you spend simply trying to take care of your aging body. All the appointments, all the doctors you might have to see, your dental bill, having to go to Sam’s Club to buy the big pack of batteries for your hearing aids.

It might start with an achy back, a gray hair. You might spend a lot of money to try and cover up those gray hairs—concealers and creams to cover up the wrinkles. Your body is constantly preaching to you a message. What’s the sermon you’re hearing? That you’re here for a bit, but eventually your body is going to break down and die.

Remember why you are breaking down, see your sin. But remember Jesus. Remember what he’s done for you. Remember how he has saved you!

“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, ‘I find no pleasure in them’” (Ecclesiastes 12:1).

But how can one keep warm alone?
