Today’s message came from Acts 7:57–60 and reminded us to ask ourselves: What are we looking at spiritually?
Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit, and even while people were coming against him, he kept his eyes on Jesus. He was rejected, thrown out of the city, and stoned, yet his focus never shifted. Even in pain, he called on the Lord and chose forgiveness.
The message challenged us to stop looking so much at our scars, our problems, our insecurities, our hurt, and even the people who have wounded us—and look at Jesus. God will come through, but we have to look up.
We were also reminded that unforgiveness can make us spiritually sick. Stephen prayed, “Lord, lay not this sin to their charge.” That is a hard level of grace, but it shows us what it looks like to truly keep our eyes on Christ.
No matter what we are facing, we have to learn to see the Lord through it all. Like Job said, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.”
After service, we fellowshipped together and enjoyed a light snack, but the presence of the Lord was still so strong that some continued to lay before Him and seek His face. What a beautiful reminder that fellowship may continue after service, but so can worship. God is good!
Look past the pain. Look past the hurt. Look past people. Keep your eyes on Jesus. 🙌🏽❤️
