❤️ Welcome to Sunday Worship!
Good morning, and welcome to Community Methodist Church! Today, October 11, 2026, we gather as a church family to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, give thanks for His countless blessings, and reflect on the incredible gift of God's grace.
Today's worship focuses on one of the most powerful messages in Christianity: although sin and death entered the world through Adam, forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life are made possible through Jesus Christ.
Our service reminds us that no matter how great our mistakes, struggles, or shortcomings may be, God's grace is greater. Through Jesus Christ, we are offered a new beginning, a restored relationship with God, and the promise of everlasting life.
🔔 Opening Worship – Preparing Our Hearts for God
Our service begins with the Chiming of the Hour, the Bringing of the Light of Christ, and the Prelude.
These opening moments invite us to leave behind the distractions and worries of everyday life and prepare our hearts for worship.
Following the Welcome and Invocation, we join together in singing our opening hymn:
🎶 “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” ( #418)
This beloved hymn reminds us that God is our protector, refuge, and source of strength. Even when life brings uncertainty, temptation, or hardship, we can stand firm in our faith because God's power is greater than anything we may face.
We continue with church announcements, the sharing of joys and concerns, the Pastoral Prayer, and the Lord's Prayer.
These moments bring our congregation together as we celebrate answered prayers, lift up those experiencing difficulties, and seek God's guidance for the week ahead.
📖 Scripture Reading – 1 Corinthians 15:42–58

Today's first Scripture reading focuses on the resurrection of the dead and the victory believers have through Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Paul explains that our earthly bodies are temporary, subject to weakness, suffering, aging, and death. However, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, believers are promised a transformation from what is perishable into what is imperishable.
Paul contrasts Adam, the first man, with Jesus Christ, the life-giving Savior.
Through Adam, humanity inherited a fallen condition, but through Christ, we are given the hope of resurrection and eternal life.
This passage reminds us that death does not have the final victory over those who belong to Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57 reminds us that our victory comes through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Because of this promise, we are encouraged to remain steadfast in our faith, continue serving the Lord, and trust that our work for God's Kingdom is never in vain.
👧👦 Children's Time – Led by Julie
Our Children's Time is led by Julie, providing a special opportunity for our youngest worshipers to learn about God's love and grow in their faith.
At Community Methodist Church, we believe every child has a special place in God's family.
Through prayer, Scripture, songs, and meaningful lessons, we encourage our children to understand that Jesus loves them, cares for them, and welcomes them into His Kingdom.

🎶 Offering, Thanksgiving, and Special Music
Our worship continues with the Offering, Offertory, Doxology, and Prayer of Thanksgiving.
During this portion of the service, we acknowledge God's many blessings and express our gratitude through faithful giving and praise.
The congregation joins together in the Doxology, glorifying God as the source of every blessing.
🎵 Our church choir also presents special music, sharing the message of God's goodness through song and helping prepare our hearts for today's sermon.
✝️ Today's Sermon – “Death in Adam, Life in Christ”

📖 Romans 5:12–21
Today's sermon explores the difference between the consequences of Adam's disobedience and the extraordinary gift of salvation made possible through Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Paul explains that sin entered the world through one man, Adam, and that death followed because of sin.
Adam's disobedience affected all humanity, bringing separation from God and revealing our need for redemption.
However, Paul does not leave us without hope.
He explains that just as sin entered through one man, the gift of righteousness and eternal life comes through one man: Jesus Christ.
Jesus willingly gave His life on the cross to pay the price for our sins. Through His obedience, sacrifice, death, and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness and reconciliation with God.
The central message is that God's grace is greater than the power of sin.
Where Adam's disobedience brought condemnation, Christ's obedience brings the opportunity for justification and life.
Where sin brought separation, Jesus offers reconciliation.
Where death once seemed victorious, Christ's resurrection gives us the promise of eternal life.
❤️ Understanding God's Amazing Grace
One of the most meaningful truths in Romans 5 is that salvation cannot be earned simply through our own good works.
It is a gift freely offered through God's love, mercy, and grace.
We all make mistakes. We all experience moments when we fall short of God's expectations. Yet God's love does not disappear when we fail.
Instead, He invites us to repent, turn toward Him, and receive the forgiveness made possible through Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:20 reminds us that even where sin increased, God's grace increased even more.
This does not mean we should continue living in sin. Rather, it means that God's grace is powerful enough to forgive, restore, and transform our lives.
🙏 Important Lessons From Today's Scripture
1. Sin separates us from God, but Jesus offers reconciliation.
Adam's disobedience brought sin into the world, but Christ's sacrifice opened the way for humanity to be restored to a relationship with God.
2. God's grace is greater than our mistakes.
No matter what we have done in the past, God's forgiveness is available through faith in Jesus Christ.
3. Eternal life is a gift through Jesus Christ.
We cannot earn salvation through our own efforts. We receive it through God's grace and faith in our Savior.
4. Death is not the end for believers.
Through Christ's resurrection, we have the hope of eternal life and the promise that death will not have the final victory.
5. Our faith should transform how we live.
Receiving God's grace should inspire us to show kindness, forgive others, serve those in need, and share the love of Jesus with the world.
🌟 A Message of Hope for Everyone
Today's Scriptures remind us that our past does not have to determine our future.
We may experience guilt, regret, disappointment, or spiritual struggles, but Jesus offers something greater than our failures: redemption and new life.
Through Him, we can find forgiveness where there was guilt, peace where there was fear, and hope where there was despair.
God's grace is not limited by the size of our mistakes.
His love reaches beyond our shortcomings and invites us into a life of faith, obedience, and spiritual renewal.
🎵 Closing Hymn – “Grace Greater Than Our Sin” ( #586)
As today's message concludes, our congregation joins together in singing “Grace Greater Than Our Sin.”
This beautiful hymn reinforces the central theme of today's worship: God's mercy and forgiveness are greater than the sins that separate humanity from Him.
Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we are reminded that redemption is possible and that God's grace is available to everyone who turns to Him in faith.
Our service concludes with the Choral Benediction presented by the choir, followed by the Postlude.
We depart with renewed hope, grateful hearts, and a reminder to share God's love with those around us.
