SPOOKTACULAR PUMPKIN FUN!
Sunday, October 18, 2026
Our annual pumpkin decorating contest took center stage at our October Potluck Luncheon, and what a spooktacular time we had! The dishes were delicious, the decorations were to die for, and the creativity was frightfully fantastic!
We had eight creatively decorated pumpkins entered in the contest, and everyone cast their votes by dropping money into the jar beside their favorite entries. The competition was a real treat and we earned $149.50 for the kitchen fund!
🎃 And the winners are…
🥇 First Place – Lori and Beverly with their adorable Mr. and Mrs. Owl.
🥈 Second Place – Jack with his Battered Heart, a heartfelt tribute to what Collin is going through right now.
🥉 Third Place – Steve, Gracie, and Ellie with their I’m Watching You Squash and decorated pumpkins.
Dee presented awards to all our winners. Congratulations to everyone, and a big thank-you to all who participated and helped make the luncheon so much fun.
Are you curious about the saying, “From ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties and things that go bump in the night, good Lord, deliver us!”? This traditional folk prayer comes from the British Isles, particularly associated with Scotland and Cornwall, England. Its exact origin is unknown because it was passed down orally through generations. It’s a charming reminder that people have been asking for protection from spooky things for a very long time!
Looking Ahead to November!
We hope you’ll join us next month for our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on the third Sunday of November. We’ll gather again for wonderful food, fellowship, and plenty of reasons to be thankful.
We look forward to seeing everyone there!
