Today, September 14th, the Greek Orthodox Church celebrates the Feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We honor the Holy Cross—the instrument of Christ’s Passion and the sacred sign of His victory over sin and death. Through the Cross, Christ revealed the depth of His love for mankind and opened the way to salvation and eternal life.

On this holy day, we bow before the Cross with humility and thanksgiving, asking our Lord to strengthen our faith, guide our families, and grant us the courage to carry our own crosses with patience, hope, and love.

Today, we remember with heavy hearts the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice while helping others in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We pray for the victims and their families, for the first responders, firefighters, police officers, and all who courageously served that day. We also remember those whose lives were forever changed in the days and years that followed.

May God grant eternal rest to the departed, comfort to those who continue to grieve, and strength and healing to all who carry the wounds of that day.

May their memory be eternal.
Αἰωνία ἡ μνήμη.

We remember. We pray. We will never forget.

Today, September 8, we celebrate the birth of our Most Holy Lady, the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary. 🙏🏻

Born to the righteous Joachim and Anna after years of faithful prayer, the birth of the Theotokos brought joy to the world and prepared the way for the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“Your birth, O Theotokos, brought joy to the whole world, for from you dawned the Sun of Righteousness, Christ our God.”

May the Most Holy Theotokos intercede for us, our families, and our loved ones, and may she guide us always toward her Son.

Today, the Greek Orthodox Church celebrates the Indiction, marking the beginning of a new Ecclesiastical (Church) Year.

As we begin this new year, we give thanks to God for His blessings and pray for His guidance, peace, and protection throughout the year ahead. 🙏

September 1 is also dedicated as a Day of Prayer for the Protection of God’s Creation, reminding us of our responsibility to care for and preserve the beautiful world entrusted to us by God.

May this new Ecclesiastical Year be filled with faith, health, peace, and abundant blessings for all.

Καλή Εκκλησιαστική Χρονιά!
Καλό & ευλογημένο εκκλησιαστικό έτος! ☦️🙏

The Feast of the Dormition of Our Most Holy Lady, the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary is celebrated on August 15 each year. The Feast commemorates the repose (dormition and in the Greek kimisis) or “falling-asleep” of the Mother of Jesus Christ, our Lord. The Feast also commemorates the translation or assumption into heaven of the body of the Theotokos.
