Rejoicing! 🤩
During the auspicious Saka Dawa month, on May 24, 2026, the center held a Puja Practices Day offering an Animal Liberation practice and a Cittamani Tara Puja. We gathered together to create a merit-building space by offering water bowls and arranging tsatsas and other holy objects. We then circumambulated 1,000 worms while reciting mantras. These worms were rescued from being sold as live mealworms, blessed, and then placed in a safe composting bin where they could continue living in a protected environment.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible, and special thanks to Ven. Amy Miller for generously offering the beautiful tsatsas to the center.šŸ™

On May 31, we celebrate Saka Dawa Duchen, one of the most sacred days in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni.

It is said that the results of our actions on this holy day are multiplied many millions of times, making it a powerful opportunity to cultivate kindness, compassion, generosity, and wisdom.

Whether through prayer, meditation, mantra recitation, acts of service, or taking the Eight Mahayana Precepts, every virtuous action becomes a cause for greater benefit in the world. Students wishing to observe the precepts can receive the lineage from a specially produced video of Lama Zopa Rinpoche granting them at Kopan Monastery in 2020 - you'll find the link at the end of this post.

May this special day inspire us to deepen our practice, generate compassion for all sentient beings, and dedicate our merit to peace, healing, and awakening everywhere.

ā€œBodhicitta is like a seed from which the qualities of the Buddhas grow.
It’s like a field in which the goodness of all beings flourishes.
It's like the earth, which is the foundation of the entire universe.
It's like water because it cleanses away the stains of the defiling emotions.
It's like fire because it burns all the grass of grasping views.
It's like the sun because it illuminates all the efforts of beings.
It's like a lamp because it brings the light of dharma.
It's like eyes because it enables one to see.ā€
