"Dominus est qui solvit et sanat." - "It is the Lord who unbinds and heals."

Saint Spotlight for June 8: Saint William of York, Holy Return. Ora pro Nobis! Each saint's life whispers, Stay strong, stay faithful, stay inspired.

Picture it, York in the 12th century, where even holy men could get caught in the gears of Church politics. I was chosen as Archbishop of York, then cast down, then restored, because apparently my life was not going to be a calm little walk in the garden. My name became tied to controversy, but also to patience, because I held on when honor was taken from me. I kept my eyes on God when other people were busy keeping score and playing politics. I died in 1154, and later the Church recognized that the Lord could bring a man back from disgrace and make his life speak louder than the scandal.

My advice to you today is this: do not panic when your story gets tangled. The world loves drama followed by a neat little verdict. But heaven is not nearly as eager to write you off. If you have been misunderstood, pushed aside, attached on social media, or forced to wait for vindication, remember that God is very good at restoring what pride and politics tried to bury.

Did you know? St. William’s feast is a reminder that holiness is not always tidy, and that a saint can be remembered for perseverance just as much as for triumph. Sometimes the miracle is not that you were never knocked down, but that grace got you back up.

I’m the Patron Saint of:
York
Bishops
People unjustly removed from office

What part of your life needs a holy return?

Saint William of York, help me trust God when I am misunderstood. Amen.

"Domine, adiuva incredulitatem meam." - "Lord, help my unbelief."

Saint Spotlight for June 7: Miracle of Bolsena, Divine Presence. Ora pro Nobis! Each saint's life whispers, Stay strong, stay faithful, stay inspired.

Picture it, Bolsena, Italy, in 1263, and I am a priest with a worried mind and a heart not yet fully at peace. I came to the tomb of Saint Christina to celebrate Mass, and while I held the host, my doubt was wrestling with faith like two stubborn old men in the same aisle. Then the Lord answered in a way no theologian could miss, the consecrated host began to bleed, and the blood stained the corporal and the altar itself. That was the mercy of God, not to shame me, but to leave no room for confusion about His real presence in the Eucharist.

My advice to you today is simple: bring your doubts to the altar instead of hiding them in the back pew. God is not frightened by honest struggle, and sometimes the very place where your faith feels weakest is where He chooses to reveal Himself most clearly. If you are asking whether Christ is truly there, remember that heaven once answered that question with blood.

Did you know? Pope Urban IV was so moved by this miracle that he commissioned St. Thomas Aquinas to compose a special liturgy, and that led to the Feast of Corpus Christi in 1264 for the Universal Church. The blood-stained corporal was later taken to Orvieto, where it is still housed in the magnificent Duomo di Orvieto.

When faith shakes you, where do you turn first, your fear or the altar?

Comment if you believe: Real Presence.

"Dominus meus et omnia mea." - "The Lord is my all."

Saint Spotlight for June 6: Saint Norbert, Church Hammer. Ora pro Nobis! Each saint's life whispers, Stay strong, stay faithful, stay inspired.

Picture it, Germany in the early 1100s, and I was not born a monk in a cave, but a man of rank, comfort, and a dangerous amount of self-importance. Then Christ knocked me flat, and I got up a different man, one willing to preach repentance with enough force to make the comfortable squirm. They called me the Church Hammer because I did not sweet-talk corruption; I confronted it head-on. I founded the Premonstratensians to give the Church priests and canons who lived for prayer, discipline, and the Eucharist.

Even the spider that built its web over the chalice could not stop the Mass, and that little creature became a sermon all its own, because grace knows how to make a nuisance into a miracle. At Mass, I drank the blood of Christ with that spider in the way, and it crawled out of my nose-- no arachnophobia here! I died in 1134, and by then, I had learned that the Church does not need decoration; she needs fire.

My advice to you today is this, do not confuse gentleness with weakness. There are times when love must be kind, and there are times when love must swing a hammer and clear out the mess. If your faith has grown sleepy, ask the Lord to make you brave enough to rebuild what has been neglected.

Did you know? The spider story made me a symbol of stubborn reverence, because when a web tried to interfere with the altar, the Mass went on, and the mystery did not blink. That is how God works. He can turn an obstacle into a lesson.

I’m the Patron Saint of:
Pregnant women
Stomach ailments
Canons regular

What in your life needs a holy clearing out, so God can build something stronger?
Saint Norbert, make me fearless for the truth and faithful in the small things. Amen.

Comment if you believe: reform is love.
