Seven members of the Provincial Definitory were elected on May 20, 2026, during the Provincial Chapter in Baltimore. They were installed during Evening Prayer.
The Definitors are:
Friar Gary Johnson, OFM Conv.
Friar Nicholas Romeo, OFM Conv.
Friar Edward Falsey, OFM Conv.
Friar Dennis Grumsey, OFM Conv.
Friar Michael Zielke, OFM Conv.
Friar Robert Benko, OFM Conv.
Friar Richard Rome, OFM Conv.
“As these seven friars take the oath to serve as Definitors, we recommit ourselves to serving all the friars of OLA Province as best we can. We do so first as men of prayer. Everything begins there,” Friar Michael said.
Friar Gary will continue as Vicar Provincial, and Friar Nicholas remains Provincial Secretary. Friar Brad Milunski, OFM Conv., was elected as Delegate to the General Chapter.
“As we begin this new term, may we recommit ourselves first and foremost to the God who is always faithful and then to one another. Our primary vocation is not simply ministry. Our primary vocation is fraternity. Our fraternal life is the gift we offer to the Church and to the world,” Friar Michael continued.
"Pope Leo 14 recently reflected that when he realized the conclave votes were moving toward him, he prayed: 'Here we go, Lord. You're in charge. You lead the way.’ There is wisdom in that prayer for all of us.
"We do not know every step ahead. But we believe the Lord continues to guide this Province just as He has throughout our history. So let us move forward with courage, with hope, with honesty, and above all with fraternity.
"Here we go, Lord. You're in charge. You lead the way,” Friar Michael concluded.
