Our September calendar includes the following:
September 4th, 10th, and 24th: Sister Jean's Kitchen and other local work in the Atlantic City area.

September 22nd. Sisters Academy After-School Program in Asbury Park resumes for another school year from 3 to 4 and every Tuesday after.

September 17th and October 29th: Dinas Dwelling and our continued support for Town Clock CDC.

Hello, St. Paul's.

Bit more personal info in this than normal. For those who may not know, my (Mike) Uncle Jimmy was one of those killed on 9/11. He was 1 of the 658 employees from Cantor Fitzgerald lost that day. Brick Township's 9/11 service is held at Windward Beach Park, off Princeton Ave, at the Angel of Anguish. If you'd like to come in person, the service starts at 6pm.

Typically, I will live stream it on the church page for my family that lives out of state, as long as I'm allowed to do so again this year, I will. With it being the 25th Anniversary, I don't know if there will be extra media coverage, or how many extra people will be around because of the number year it is.

With youth group now on Friday's, this will take the place of youth group. Myself, Melissa, and some of the other youth leaders will be there, as well as Pastor Evan if you'd like to have your youth attend.

A message from Pastor Evan about this week's Mid-Week Worship service (7pm in the Youth Room):

Dear St Paul’s:

This week for Mid-Week Worship. Wednesday, September 9th, Joe Springer will join me and discuss his new book. Below is a write up with some information on Joe and his book.

Joe Springer is a licensed psychologist and a Professor Emeritus from Georgian Court University. Joe received his PhD in Counseling Psychology from Temple University in 1988 and has over 40 years of clinical experience and 30 years of experience in academia at Georgian Court University.

Joe is not a theologian or a biblical scholar; however, he has familiarity with The Bible through his own experience as a lifetime practicing Catholic and his own personal study. Joe’s recently released book is entitled: Chatting with the Bible: 70 Short Stories based on Scripture from the Old and New Testaments which involved a collaboration with Chat GPT to write short stories based on passages from the Bible.

Joe recognized that quite a few of his clients and students even though nominally Christian, didn’t have a close familiarity with many of the stories from the Bible and were unaware how stories written thousands of years ago are still powerfully relevant to the present. Each story in Joe’s book is based on a passage from the Bible and seeks to help the reader experience it as here and now instead of there and then.

Following each story, the book includes the Scriptural passages on which the story is based and Joe’s personal reflections based on his own clinical and teaching experience as well as his lived experience in over 70 years of his life journey. Wisdom from the AA 12-step program and other spiritual traditions is also incorporated into Joe’s commentaries, as it is his belief that other traditions have something valuable to offer.

Chatting with the Bible seeks to be inclusive of all Christians, as Joe believes that what we have in common far exceeds that which separates us. Whether you are familiar with The Bible or would like to learn more about it, Chatting with the Bible seeks to bring these stories to life in a reader-friendly format. The intent of the book is to provide a tool that can help bring people closer to the experience of God through the gift of the Bible.
