Baptisms THIS Sunday!

the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”— Matthew 28:19
First of all— CONGRATULATIONS!
Choosing baptism is a meaningful step in your walk with Jesus.
It’s important to understand something right away: baptism does not save us. Jesus saves us by grace through faith. Baptism is simply our public response to what He has already done in our lives.
“Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ…”
— Acts 2:38 WHAT IS BAPTISM? Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change .
When you trust in Jesus, you are forgiven, made new, and brought into relationship with God. Baptism is the public way of saying, “I belong to Jesus now, and I’m following Him.”
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17 WHY DO WE GET BAPTIZED? 1. Because Jesus told us to. Before returning to heaven, Jesus gave this command:
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
— Matthew 28:19
Baptism is an act of obedience.
2. Because Jesus modeled it. Jesus Himself was baptized (Matthew 3:13–17). He didn’t need repentance, but He chose baptism to identify with God’s plan and begin His public ministry.
We follow His example.
3. Because it identifies us with Jesus. Going under the water represents being united with Christ in His death and burial. Coming up out of the water represents being raised into new life with Him.
“Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead… we too may walk in newness of life.”
— Romans 6:4
In baptism we are saying: My old life is buried with Christ I have been made new I now belong to Him DOES BAPTISM SAVE ME? No. Only Jesus saves.
We are saved by God’s grace through faith—not by religious actions.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith… not a result of works…”
— Ephesians 2:8–9
Baptism does not wash away sin. Jesus’ blood does.
Baptism is not what makes someone a Christian—it is what a Christian does after trusting Christ.
In the New Testament, the pattern is consistent:
They heard the gospel → believed → were baptized
(Acts 2:41; 8:12; 8:35–38; 10:47–48; 16:30–33) WHY DO WE BAPTIZE BY IMMERSION? The word “baptize” ( baptizō ) carries the idea of being immersed or fully placed into water.
Immersion also visually tells the story of the gospel: Under the water → buried with Christ Coming up → raised to new life It’s a picture of what Jesus has done in us. WHAT AM I SAYING WHEN I GET BAPTIZED? When you step into the water, you are publicly declaring: Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior My old life no longer defines me I have been made new in Christ I belong to Him, and I will follow Him Baptism is more than a tradition—it is a moment of obedience, testimony, and celebration.
It tells the story of the gospel: Jesus died Jesus was buried Jesus rose again And through Him, I have new life YOUR TESTIMONY (BEFORE BAPTISM) *IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO
We also want to give you a moment to personally share what God has done in your life.
Before you are baptized, you will be invited to briefly share one of the following: How you came to trust Jesus , or What Jesus has done in your life recently , or Why you are choosing to follow Him today This does not need to be long or polished—just honest.
A simple guide could be: “Before Jesus, my life looked like…” “I realized I needed Him when…” “I have decided to follow Jesus because…” “Today I am being baptized because…” This is your opportunity to publicly declare your faith in your own words and celebrate what God has done in you. THIS WEEKEND Don’t feel pressure to perform or have everything perfectly figured out.
Baptism isn’t about a perfect story—it’s about a perfect Savior.
Come ready to celebrate what Jesus has done.
And when you step into the water, remember:
You are not saying, “Look what I’ve done.”
You are saying: LOOK WHAT JESUS HAS DONE.
