We are pleased to announce "Developing the Caring Community" a seminar style course published by the Alban Institute to be led here in Maine by Rev. Dr. Kenneth W. Smith, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Gardiner and Bowdoinham Second Baptist Church.

- Duration: 8–10 weeks
- Start Date: Saturday, February 7, 2026
- Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Location: Bowdoinham Second Baptist Church, 1 Church Street, Bowdoinham, Maine 04008

About Developing the Caring Community:
This course is designed for lay members of the Body of Christ called to use the spiritual gifts of mercy and pastoral care. Based both on the biblical principle calling us to "carry one another’s burdens" and the many teachings of Jesus calling us to serve one another, the curriculum offers practical applications for laity who serve individuals and small groups within churches and communities. The course includes experiential learning and provides an uplifting environment for fellowship and growth.

- Hospitality: Coffee, tea, and refreshments will be served.
- Accessibility: On-site parking is available, and the church is wheelchair accessible.
