Parents, tonight we began a new series called “How?”. The goal of this series is to answer some of the most fundamental questions about the Christian faith: How do we know God exists?, How do we know Scripture is trustworthy?, How do we know Jesus really was who he said he was?, etc.
2 out of every 3 “Christian” students abandon the faith when they leave for college. There are a lot of factors that play into that statistic, but one of the most significant is that most students would answer those questions with “Because the Bible says so” or “because that’s just what I’ve always believed” and those answers don’t hold up on their own. Parents I hope I don’t have to convince you that working through these questions is vital to their faith. Skepticism, doubt, and questioning should be readily accepted because we should be confident that God has provided the answers if we look for them. My goal is to equip you and your students to that end. I would love to hear about discussions and further questions that are the result of conversations among your family.
