t. Mark's offers Blessings Boxes 24/7/365, which are located on the front porch of our Parish Hall. Shelf-stable foods are found there, along with toiletries and/or cleaning supplies from time to time. The contents vary, week to week. Mark's is located in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland and we are a congregation of the Episcopal Church which is a body of over 2 million Christians in the United States. The Episcopal Church is a province of the worldwide Anglican Communion- the family of churches that trace their descent and Apostolic Succession from the Church of England. The Anglican Communion consists of 38 independent “provinces,” and around 80 million members worldwide making this the world's third largest Christian denomination.

"[P]erfection is not the measure of faithful discipleship—faithfulness is! Many people’s first encounter with Jesus is not through sermons, theological treatises, or Christian programming, but through the lives of Christians they know. They will see how we treat those with whom we disagree. They will look to see if our actions reflect our words. They will look to see if our faith is something we only express or something we genuinely let shape our lives. When people see us sincerely endeavoring to live according to the teachings of God’s Word—especially when we fall and try again—they see the truth of the Gospel’s reality and redemptive power."

The annual Ed Poling Memorial HARC Hike for Hunger & Hope was this past Saturday, May 30. This year, the trek for the hike was along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Williamsport portion. Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsport was the host, and this year St. Mark's was able to host our hospitality table indoors at Zion. Thank you to everyone who volunteered on Saturday.

Also, (dare I forget to mention that) St. Mark's is blessed to be a Platinum Sponsor of the hike this year! It is through God's blessings over and provision for St. Mark's that this was possible. He gets the honor and praise, and we give Him thanks.🙏✝️☝️

Proceeds from the hike will benefit all HARC programs with a significant portion going directly to Micah's Backpack https://harccoalition.org/programs/micahs-backpack/ and a portion to the Refugee Welcome Network https://harccoalition.org/programs/refugee-welcome-network/ . Micah’s Backpack is a collaborative effort between 50 churches and organizations in Washington County, serving more than 1,200 children with weekend meals. The Refugee Welcome Network supports refugees new to the U.S. as they work toward independence and becoming part of our community.

Please enjoy these photos taken throughout the day, compliments of Senior Warden, Ed Maloy.

Be sure to read about The Rev. Ed Poling and his contributions -- and how the hike came to fruition as a viable fundraiser (taken from HARC's website.) I had the pleasure to sing beside Rev. Ed several years in the community choir at HARC's annual Community Thanksgiving service.
