This Sunday in worship, we’ll pause to reflect on Jesus’ enduring call to seek and trust God’s abundance. We’ll give thanks for the harvest of his growing kingdom as we celebrate an incredible week of Vacation Bible School and commission two dozen students for our annual mission trip. In all of it, we’ll wrestle with the ways God may be sending us to tend his fields—and consider the places in our lives where we may be afraid or unwilling to go.

Whether you feel like a faithful laborer or one struggling to recognize the harvest of God’s grace, come and sit among his fields of abundance, that you may be refreshed, commissioned, and sent.

This Sunday we remember a story from the book of Jonah, a story that is far more than a tale of a great fish. It is a story of God's relentless grace, pursuing both the prophet who runs from him and the people whom the prophet would rather see judged than forgiven.

As we gather, we will be reminded that the Lord is "compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love." Through worship, Scripture, and communion, we will encounter the God whose mercy is wider than our prejudices, deeper than our failures, and greater than we can imagine.

We invite you to join us this Sunday as we journey through one of Scripture’s most fascinating stories: the construction of the Tabernacle, the place where God chose to dwell among his people. From the altar of sacrifice to the Mercy Seat atop the Ark of the Covenant, every detail pointed beyond itself to Jesus Christ and God’s plan of redemption. In Hebrews 9, we discover that these ancient symbols find their fulfillment in Christ, who has become the true and perfect place where we meet with God.

This Sunday, we gather for Pentecost, the birthday of the Church, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples and formed a new community through the risen Christ. As part of our worship, we will begin the service with a Memorial Day tribute, giving thanks for those who gave their lives in service to our nation.
Pentecost reminds us that the Church was born through the Spirit drawing together people from every language, culture, and story into one body in Christ. In that spirit, we invite you to wear red this Sunday as a visible sign of the fire of Pentecost and the life of the Holy Spirit still at work among us today.

This week in worship we will gather around the powerful and sometimes difficult truth that God is both refuge and judge. In Nahum 1:1–8, we encounter a God whose justice is real and whose mercy is steadfast. Together, we will be invited not to build our own shelter against life’s storms, but to rest in the refuge Christ has already provided.

Receive a Love Letter

During last Sunday’s Mother’s Day services, we shared "love letters from God", written and drawn by our children and students. Many of these special letters are still available. We warmly invite you to pick one up at the Welcome Desk in the church Lobby, available on Sunday and during office hours throughout the next two weeks, to share with a friend or family member who could use reminders of God’s love.

Already gone for the season, or live at a distance from First Church? We'd be happy to mail one to you. Email Haley Dent at [email protected] with your address.

Mother’s Day naturally turns our hearts toward those whose love first shaped us, encouraged us, and carried us through life’s joys and wounds. Yet this service also speaks gently to those for whom the day carries grief, absence, disappointment, or longing. Psalm 139 leads us beyond even the best human love to the God who has known us from the beginning, who has never abandoned us, and whose mercy is more than all our failures and fears. Whether you come rejoicing, weary, grateful, or searching for hope, you are invited to join us as we worship the God who still writes his love into human hearts and sends us into the world as living letters of his grace.
