A Word from the Pastor
Romans 8:37 gives us a definitive and bold proclamation about believers in Jesus Christ.
"Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us." We are victorious!! Christ has secured and delivered to us, victory. Not only did Jesus die for our sins on the cross, but He also rose again from the dead, defeating forever death, hell, and the grave. Because we serve a risen, living Savior, we are victorious. Think about these three things concerning our victory in Christ.
1. We have complete victory. (in all these things)
Romans 8:35, 38, and 39 give us a comprehensive list of things that cannot defeat us. None of these things will ever have power over us or separate us from God's love. Our victory is complete in Jesus Christ.
2. We are conquering victors. (more than conquerors)
Think about this. To be called a conqueror by Almighty God is one thing, but He calls us MORE than conquerors! Many years ago I heard an elderly preacher say that this phrase means, "when the battle is over, you will still have ammunition left". I like that. If God be for us, who can be against us?
3. We have certain victory. (through Him that loved us)
Our victory is not dependent upon us. It is through Jesus Christ. We are victorious because He lives, because He loves, and because He saves. Our salvation is eternal and our victory is certain.
Our life in Christ is a life of victory. Our victory is secure and permanent because it was won by a Savior so powerful, death has been defeated by Him. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, gives us victory over "all these things"! Yes, our victory is eternal, but it is a victory that can be experienced each day as we live, pray, rejoice, and serve our personal Savior and Friend.
