There is something so beautiful about keeping a place for those we love, even after they’ve passed.
DĂa de Mu***os is a Mexican tradition with deep Indigenous roots—a time to honor loved ones through flowers, candlelight, offerings, and memories.
While customs and dates vary by community and family, this remembrance calendar shares:
October 27 — Beloved animals and pets.
October 28 — Those who died suddenly or tragically.
October 29 — Those who died by drowning.
October 30 — Forgotten souls and those with no one to remember them.
October 31 — Preparing the ofrenda and welcoming the departed.
November 1 — Children who have passed, lovingly called “angelitos.”
November 2 — Adults who have passed.
November 3 — A farewell as the observance closes in some traditions.
