Immanuel Lutheran Church

Immanuel Lutheran Church We are a community of faith rooted in the love of God. Originally, Immanuel descended from the Old Union Church (Lutheran and Presbyterian) in 1785.

Immanuel Lutheran Church was organized by Germanic people from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. In 1793 Immanuel was formed and is the oldest Lutheran Church in Tennessee and the third oldest church in the Southeastern Synod. Immanuel Lutheran Church is designated as a historic site by the Sullivan County Historical Society.

Council has decided to cancel in-person service tomorrow (February 1, 2026) due to the snow and frigid temperatures.
A video of an online service will be posted so that a form of worship will be available for you to watch at your convenience.
Stay safe and warm and enjoy the snow - I'll be playing in it like a kid.

Due to the cold and conditions of secondary roads, Wednesday’s study group AND Wednesday night choir practice have been cancelled.

Council has decided to cancel in-person service tomorrow (January 25th) due to the Winter Weather Warning and the uncertainty of road conditions.
A video of an online service will be uploaded for scheduled posting on the private Facebook group so that a form of worship will be available if we lose power and/or internet access and cannot livestream at our usual time.

The Wednesday morning craft and study group has decided to take a summer vacation and will resume meeting in September! See you then!!!
When we meet again we will begin a Bible & Bonhoeffer Study.

20 April: 7 A.M. Easter Sunrise Service; 8:15ish A.M. Easter Breakfast; 10 A.M. Sunday School/Education Hour; 11 A.M. Easter Service - all at Immanuel

After talking about it, we have decided to cancel service for Sunday, 12 January 2025.
The installation of new council members will be pushed to next Sunday, 19 January.
The Square 1 Men's group meeting and the Spaghetti Luncheon will be pushed to next weekend as well.
