There are men all over the country who love Christ and His Church, and want to see faithful congregations planted and grown. But oftentimes, we lack models of what this actually looks like.

This is the kind of ministry we’re cultivating here at Trinity, and this is what the Frontier Shepherds conference is about. Register below 👇👇👇

Tim and Andrew discuss the ups and downs—pastorally and financially—of the church year.

Along the way, they cover the science of fasteners (nylok bolts and nuts), the death of expertise, quangos, creating a peaceful climate in a church to protect the sheep, disciplining the rich and the poor, dumpster diving, God’s bountiful care for us, why pastors avoid addressing the world’s calamities in the pastoral prayer or sermon (lack of compassion)…oh, and a brief mention of Epstein and the desire for justice.

The family meal: We set the table not only with food but also with conversation and leadership. Efficiency is not the priority of the day. We must slow down, guide the conversation, even after a long day at work. Time at the family dinner table serves as a microcosm of life. A father must concern himself with worship, etiquette (showing kindness to others), and directed conversation, while remembering that it takes discernment to determine which hills he will die on when someone says something obtuse.

Family meals and devotions should not be guilt trips. Keep them simple and focus on what you and your family enjoy most. Many husbands perform at the dinner table and during devotions to meet their wives' expectations and aspirations.

NETTR, bunk

The internet is a balkanization of the populace: Everybody finds those they want to listen to. It is exceedingly difficult to teach somebody whose principal input in his life is through the internet. With a flesh-and-blood pastor, you at least can see his sins, his wife, and his children. Generally,...

"We have taught our men to expound the Word but not necessarily to preach it. We have trained them to analyze the text, but not to apply it with urgency... Preaching is the heralding of truth that lays claim to the soul... it is truth pressed upon the conscience with divine authority... We need preaching that sounds less like a lecture and more like a lifeline to desperate sinners."

Like many preachers, one of my favorite things to read are sermons from the past. Whether it's Martyn Lloyd-Jones or the golden-mouthed John Chrysostom, I’m always intrigued by how faithful men throughout the ages have communicated God's Word to their hearers. But also, like many of you, I find my...

Tempted by Roman Catholicism? Listen carefully to this episode of Tim Bayly's new podcast, Safe Pasture.

This episode addresses conversions to Roman Catholicism, particularly among pastors and elders within the various reformed churches. The argument made is that such conversions aren’t to Rome’s doctrine, but Rome’s culture—and particularly sacramentalism.Sources:Eugene Quay, “Justifiable Ab...
