🔥 Last Sunday we celebrated both Pentecost and the birthday of the Church, the moment the Holy Spirit came down to fill God’s people and send them out with purpose. What began in Acts 2 still continues today through the Church Christ is building.
At Trinity, it’s worth asking: what kind of legacy are we leaving for the next generation?
Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3:10-13 that we are builders. We didn’t lay the foundation. Jesus already did that. Our calling is to faithfully build upon it. Every prayer prayed, every child taught, every song sung, and every act of service becomes part of what future generations inherit.
The church doesn’t belong to us. We simply have the honor of stewarding it for a season.
A steward asks different questions. Not “What do I want?” but “What will help others find Jesus?” The Church is not built only for the people already in the room, but for the person who hasn’t walked through the doors yet, the hurting soul searching for hope, truth, and comfort.
Proverbs 13:22 says, “A good person leaves an inheritance to their children’s children.” That inheritance is more than money or possessions. It’s faith. It’s prayer. It’s a church that still stands on the foundation of Christ.
May we build carefully. May we leave behind a legacy that points people to Jesus long after we are gone.
