🎵 Worship Song of the Week: "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”



Few hymns capture the spirit of Christian joy as beautifully as Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.



The text was written in 1907 by American pastor and hymn writer Henry van D**e. Inspired by the beauty of God's creation and the joy of the Christian faith, van D**e wanted to write a hymn that celebrated God's presence not through fear or sorrow, but through gratitude, wonder, and praise.

He paired his words with one of the world's most recognizable melodies—Beethoven's Ode to Joy from his Ninth Symphony. The result is a hymn that has inspired generations of Christians to lift their voices in thanksgiving.

The opening words remind us:

"Joyful, joyful, we adore thee, God of glory, Lord of love."

Today, this hymn continues to speak to us by reminding us that joy is more than happiness. Christian joy is rooted in God's enduring love, the gift of community, and the hope we find in Christ even during difficult times.

As we sing this hymn, we join Christians across generations in celebrating a God who fills creation with beauty, grace, and hope.
