Dave’s Diamonds – “Energy”
What an exciting week at Vacation Bible School! With just over 100 kids filling our church with laughter, singing, games, and endless excitement, the energy has been contagious. From the moment the doors open, smiles light up the room and joy seems to bounce off every wall. This reminds us of Mark 10:13-16, where people brought children to Jesus. When others tried to turn them away, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me…for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” He welcomed them with open arms and blessed them. Jesus loved having children around, and we can imagine the joyful energy they brought wherever He went.
The excitement we see at VBS is more than just kids having fun. It is a glimpse of God at work. Every Bible story, craft, song, and snack helps children learn about Jesus and His love for them. This week, let’s thank God for the wonderful energy of these young hearts. May their enthusiasm inspire us to trust Jesus, celebrate His love, and approach Him with the same joy and wonder as a child. Stay strong and encouraged in your faith. —Dave

Vacation Bible School is almost here! Join us June 1–5 from 9:00 AM–12:30 PM each day for a fun-filled week of Bible adventures, crafts, games, music, snacks, and movies.

Summer Bible Study: Join Pastor Dave and Cheryl Banks for a summer Bible study starting on Wednesday, June 3 from 6-7 pm in the Fireside Room. We will be doing “The Bible in 90 Days” series. Dave’s Diamonds – “Taming”
James 3 reminds us that the tongue may be small, but it can cause massive trouble. Like a wild animal, the tongue can be difficult to tame. Picture a lion escaping the circus tent! A lion tamer may crack a whip, wave a chair, and command a roaring beast, but James says taming the tongue is even harder. One careless word can scratch a friendship, wound a family member, or ignite drama.
Eugene Peterson in his Message Bible writes, “A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth… can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, or throw mud on a reputation” (James 3:5-6). The challenge is that our mouths often speak before our hearts pause. Sarcasm, gossip, anger, and pride sneak out before we even realize it. But here’s the good news: God never asked us to tame our tongue alone. The Holy Spirit steps in like the ultimate Trainer, helping us practice restraint, kindness, and wisdom. When we surrender our words to Him, He teaches us when to speak, when to stay silent, and how to use our tongue to encourage instead of destroy. Today, let the Holy Spirit hold the lion leash! Stay strong and encouraged in your faith. —Dave
