From time to time, our parish prayer list feels pretty heavy with friends and loved ones with needs of every kind. This is one of those times. While we won't share the names on social media, we would ask that you remember every person on our prayer list today. Let us lift them up and put our trust in the Lord.

"Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before we ask and you know our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness, and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not, and for our blindness we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, through endless ages. Yesterday we had some esteemed guests drop in for a visit. Every year these brand new kindergarteners take a community tour of Big Stone Gap, and every year they stop by Christ Church to learn of the importance of Wise County's oldest congregation from our very own Mrs. Short. We're so grateful for educators who take the time to instill community into these kids from the very start. And we're so glad to have them spend some time with us! At Christ Episcopal Church, all hearts are welcome. 💚

A Celebration for the Life of Ashley Slaymaker will be held this Saturday, September 5th at 4pm here at Christ Church.

Yesterday evening was the first community jam here at Christ Church. This jam is being hosted here every 2nd and 4th Monday evening at 6pm. Everyone is welcome, including spectators. Mark your calendars and join us for the next one on September 14th. See ya there!

Tomorrow, Monday August 24th we are hosting a community old-time/bluegrass jam. Everyone is welcome to play or spectate. Just come hang out and have a grand old time. It's at 6pm every 2nd and 4th Monday evening. See ya there!

August is the Month of Giving for the Mountain-to-Mountain Partnership with St. Paul's Church and School in Beaudin Jean Pierre, Haiti.
