Our schedules are shaped by the decisions we make, and over time, those schedules shape the lives we live.

When we’re constantly hurried, it can affect more than our calendars, it can affect our patience, our relationships, our attitudes, and even our ability to respond well to the pressures of life.

Jesus doesn’t invite us into a life of simply surviving from one day to the next. He invites us into abundant life.

But living an unhurried life takes practice. It may mean adding time for prayer, taking a quiet walk, sitting around the table with our families without our phones, practicing Sabbath, or simply spending time with God.

And sometimes creating space means something has to go.

Another commitment. Another activity. Another obligation. Another expectation.

What might you need to subtract from your life to create more space for God, your relationships, and your soul?

Jesus lived with purpose, but He wasn’t controlled by hurry. If we want to become more like Jesus, we have to learn His pace.

In John 15, Jesus says, “Remain in me.” A branch doesn’t produce fruit by trying harder—it produces fruit by staying connected to the vine.

So often, we try to do more, serve more, and work harder, when Jesus is simply asking us to remain. Slowing down gives us space to hear God, notice what’s happening in our hearts, and love people well.

Following Jesus isn’t about doing more. It’s about learning to abide.
What would it look like for you to slow down and simply remain with Him today?

Grateful for another Sunday at Journey. We worshiped through song, shared communion, opened God’s Word, and were challenged to slow down and live unhurried.

It’s easy to say we want to grow in our faith, but then let everything else fill our time.

Some of the biggest growth happens when we’re willing to slow down, show up, be honest, and let other people walk alongside us.

That’s why we want to encourage you to join a Group or Bible Study starting this week. Not because you need one more thing on your calendar, but because we need people who will pray with us, encourage us, challenge us, and point us back to Jesus.

If you’ve been hesitant, don’t wait until you feel completely comfortable. Take the step. Show up. See what God might do through a simple yes.

We’re so thankful for everyone who serves at Journey. Not for recognition or applause, but because they believe in building up the Kingdom of God.

Serving with humility means pointing away from ourselves and giving God the glory. Whether you’re serving kids, greeting at the door, making coffee, running sound, or helping behind the scenes, every act of service matters when it’s done for Him.

If you missed signing up this past Sunday, it’s never too late. We’d love for you to find a place to jump in! https://journey-christian-church.churchcenter.com/people/forms/900701

Surrender begins with giving Him our lives to Jesus, trusting Him as our Savior, and allowing Him to reign as King in our hearts.

And it isn’t a one-time decision. It’s something we choose every day. Every day, we lay down our own plans, desires, comfort, and control and choose to follow Jesus.

When we surrender to Christ He transforms who we are. He renews our hearts, minds, and desires, shifting our priorities toward the things that honor Him.

Repent. Believe. Follow Jesus. Surrender daily. Let Him transform you from the inside out.

Yesterday, we visited a sweet lady from church who is in the hospital. As we’ve been talking about sharing the Gospel, making disciples, and making Jesus known wherever we go, she is the kind of person who makes you stop and think, “Am I taking this seriously enough?”

Because she does.

She may be confined to a hospital bed, but she is still on mission. Sitting beside her bed was a stack of New Testament Bibles, ready to go. She has already given 40 away, and while we were there, we got to watch her hand two more to people who came into her room.

Every person who walks through her door is an opportunity. Every person who passes by her room is someone who needs to know about Jesus. She isn’t waiting until she gets home. She isn’t waiting for a better opportunity. She’s making Jesus known right where she is.

And as she prepares to celebrate her 90th birthday this week, she has spent a lifetime doing the same thing, telling people about Jesus and sharing the Good News wherever she goes. Her age hasn’t slowed her down, and a hospital bed certainly isn’t going to stop her.

You would never have to ask whether she is a disciple of Jesus. It’s obvious. It’s in the way she lives, the way she speaks, and the way she looks at every person as an opportunity to point them to Jesus.

What an incredible example for all of us.

We don’t have to be in a church building to make Jesus known. We don’t have to have the perfect opportunity. We don’t have to wait until life is convenient.
Wherever you are, there are people who need Jesus. So make Him known.

Jesus didn’t come just to change our circumstances. He came to transform our hearts.
