Francis Makemie, of the Presbytery of Laggan, Ireland, came to the American colonies to minister with persons of the reformed Christian faith. Buckingham Presbyterian Church was one of those congregations. Makemie preached at the Inn on the Burley Plantation, present day Berlin. Buckingham has had five sanctuaries: The first on the Buckingham plantation, south of Berlin; the second and third on t

he site of the cemetery at the south end of town; and the fourth and fifth on the present site. For over three centuries, the congregation has witnessed to Christ as Lord and Savior and ministered to continuing generations of people.

Happy Pentecost! At Buckingham, we felt the Spirit moving among us as we waved our yellow, orange, and red streamers this morning. Be open to where the Spirit is guiding and inspiring you this week!

Our youth have been celebrating the Ascension in fun ways. Sometimes Jesus ascended on the wrong side of the cloud. Some of our tea bags stayed safely on the foil. All in all we learned that 40 days after the resurrection, Jesus ascended to heaven!

We recognize the busyness of this season and our hearts and prayers are with the Gubosh and Davis Families during this time. Taking everything into consideration, the church has decided to cancel tomorrow’s Ascension Service and post pone the Community Potluck. We will announce the rescheduled date for the potluck soon.
Please continue to pray for those who are grieving and for our church familyduring this season.

G3 worked together last night to rescue a plane from the roof, tell each other Bible stories, and play outside in God’s amazing creation. Thank you to the Deacons for the tasty pizza! This week we will be finding ways to love our neighbors as we discussed Jesus saying, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). After going through the 10 commandments and then turning to Jesus summing them up into two, we made a goal of finding ways to notice and love our neighbors this week! See you next Tuesday, G3!

Our youth have been busy lately. We reminded ourselves that we follow the Good Shepherd as part of his sheep pen. We celebrated our many talented people at the Worcester County Fine Arts Festival. And this past Tuesday, we made our own lava lamps as a reminder that “Your word is a lamp to my path and a light to my feet” -Psalm 119:105!
