First Presbyterian Church - Bend, OR Creating spaces of grace to cultivate hope, healing and purpose. And we love it that way.

At First Presbyterian, you will meet people at many different places theologically and spiritually. We want to be a place where our diversity brings us together and where conversation takes us all deeper in our understanding of God. We call this kind of faith “Spacious Christianity.” We don’t ask anyone to sign creeds or statements of belief. The life of faith is about a way of being in the world and a faith that shows itself in love.

“Making art has helped me pay attention. The more you look, the more you see.”

If you missed Sunday’s message at First Presbyterian Church of Bend, you can listen online to local artist and Tumalo Art Co. gallery owner Susan Luckey Higdon’s beautiful reflection on art, faith, creativity, and the sacred practice of “noticing and seeing deeply.”

Through stories of painting, nature, beauty, and the movement of the Holy Spirit, Susan reflects on how art can open us to awe, healing, and God’s presence in the world around us.

And this coming Sunday, we’re honored to welcome author Jane Kirkpatrick, who will share a message on the power of stories in our lives.

Join us in person or online as we continue exploring the ways creativity, story, and faith shape who we are becoming.

“Kits for Kids is an amazing program, it’s one of my favorite resources to give out!” shared Emilie Wi******er, a FAN advocate at Silver Rail Elementary School, as she reflected on the impact this program has on the families she works with. She told us about one family who had recently moved to Bend for one of the parent’s jobs, but struggled to find housing. “It was very expensive, and she [the mother] felt like she could never reach her goal of getting into housing.”

She was able to give this family some extra help and hope by delivering a few hygiene kits. “The parent just sighed with relief...it gives so much dignity to families to get a handmade bag just for them. We are very appreciative of your support!”

The Kits for Kids program has been going strong for over two decades, making an impact on youth in need throughout Central Oregon. This month, we will be highlighting this important ministry and ways you can get involved. We are so grateful to partner with local organizations like Family Access Network to support families with essential resources.

Full article goes out later today in our monthly publication, The Spacious Way, delivering stories of goodness and acts of love in our community.

You can sign up for The Spacious Way, on our website or by sending us a DM with your email address. The Spacious Way highlights various ministries, volunteers and groups at First Presbyterian Bend making a difference through your generous support.
