This Sunday we are singing a new song called "it's our joy" by Beau Maddox. This song is a simple anthem of a heart that is thrilled to respond to the love, goodness, and beauty of God in praise. We hope it will give words to the privilege it is to lift our voices together in worship to our worthy King. We look forward to singing it together!

In Acts 20:28ff, the Apostle Paul exhorts the Ephesian elders to "pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock...to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood." Care for the flock requires both proximity and prayer. We take this seriously and share a conviction to regularly make space for anyone in the Emmaus body to receive prayer and discernment from our elder team. You can speak with our elders, Geoff, Matt, Tony, Scott or Dave during a weekend Gathering. We are glad to pray with and for you any time, but additionally have set aside time in order to honor this calling to care for the body in this regular rhythm.

The next Elder meeting is happening on September 27th after the Sunday gathering. You can find more details for this on the events page of the app.

Emmaus, be encouraged that we worship the everlasting God, the God who existed before the mountains were born. The God who marked off the dimensions of the earth. The God who told Moses, I AM. May we dwell in the Lord and be surprised by His steadfast love at daybreak. May the joyful work of our hands transcend the temporary and both build and reveal his eternal kingdom.

Emmaus Men! We have a BBQ coming up on Friday, August 21st. We will be grilling burgers and brats and will have sides and good drink to go along. This is a perfect time to invite someone you just met or invite along someone who you are in community with. We encourage you to carpool if possible, parking is limited. Tony shared from Psalm 90 on Sunday. The structure of this Psalm is characterized as a Chiastic Psalm. The central point of the passage is not at the beginning and not at the end, but is embedded in the middle of the passage. The thing that makes these types of Psalms beautiful and poetic is each problem is picked up again by a prayer in reverse order. Because life is stained and scarred by sin, we need God's intervention. Because life has toil and turmoil, we need God-given contentment and joy. And because life is fragile and fleeting, we pray to God for purpose and meaning in what we do.

Wanting to cling to God daily and remembering Him through the watches of your life is one of the takeaways from Stephen's message on Sunday. Building spiritual disciplines into our lives such as prayer will help us discover that He alone satisfies our hearts.
