Tomorrow, I plan to remind our congregation of this section in our statement of faith, especially the first and last sentences. Then, I will lead us in a time of prayer:

Peace and War
It is the duty of Christians to seek peace with all men on principles of righteousness. In accordance with the spirit and teachings of Christ they should do all in their power to put an end to war.

The true remedy for the war spirit is the gospel of our Lord. The supreme need of the world is the acceptance of His teachings in all the affairs of men and nations, and the practical application of His law of love. Christian people throughout the world should pray for the reign of the Prince of Peace.

While flying back from Kansas City yesterday, I struck up a conversation with my seatmate, Chad—who was a Christian—about work, life, and ministry.

Partway through the flight, a woman across the aisle said, "I'm sorry to interrupt, but I couldn't help overhearing your conversation..." She then explained that she had gone to church in the past but was now an agnostic. She said she was somewhat put off by public figures who claim to be Christian and act in immoral ways and asked what I made of it.

It's not everyday that an unbeliever asks me for a gospel presentation, but that's basically what happened and exactly what I did. Before the flight was over, the woman's son and a lady sitting behind me were involved in the conversation as well.

No one made a decision for Christ, but I could see that they were really thinking about these matters. Please lift up Linda, Chase, and Rose in prayer, that they would seek out and find Bible-believing Christians to carry on the conversation with them.

What's more, I wasn't even supposed to be on this flight. My doctoral seminar finished a day early, so I went to the airport in the morning and got on standby for an earlier flight—this one.
