At Light of Salvation Church -

Today we learned David reminded us that validation doesn't come from people- it comes from God. Before David ever stood before Goliath, he first had to endure criticism, misunderstanding, and rejection from his own brother, Eliab.

Eliab talked down to David. He questioned his motives, belittled his character, and tried to make David feel small. But David understood something powerful: he didn't have to defend what God had already affirmed.

One of the greatest lessons from today's sermon is this: Some conversations are too expensive. They cost you your peace, your confidence, your focus, and even your purpose. Not every opinion deserves your attention, and not every critic deserves a response.

David refused to stand there and argue with the voice that was talking down to him. Instead, he turned away from Eliab (1 Samuel 17:30) and kept moving toward his assignment. David knew that if he stopped to fight the wrong battle, he might miss the one God had actually called him to win.

What's amazing is that God was preparing David through a smaller voice before he ever faced a bigger giant. If David had allowed Eliab's criticism to stop him, he never would have stood before Goliath. The insignificant voices were only preparation for the significant battle ahead.

Remember, Goliath taunted all of Israel. His voice had intimidated an entire nation for forty days. Yet David wasn't shaken by the giant because he had already learned not to be controlled by the voices of people. The one who ignored Eliab was the same one who defeated Goliath.

Sometimes the small voices of criticism are simply training ground for the greater victories God has prepared for you. If you can ignore the voice that's trying to discourage you today, you'll be ready to silence the giant you'll face tomorrow.

This week, don't waste your time seeking validation from people who were never assigned to affirm you.

At Light of Salvation Church we reflected on the powerful truth found in Psalm 103:4:

"God who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies."

David reminds us that God not only redeemed us from destruction, but He also crowned us. He placed something on our lives that should be visible to everyone around us.

This crown is not made of gold or precious stones. It is a crown of lovingkindness and tender mercies. The Hebrew word for lovingkindness is hesed-God's covenant love, steadfast love, faithful love, and the kind of love that doesn't let go.

That's why every now and then, you need to adjust your crown.

Not because it has fallen off but because life has a way of causing us to forget what we're wearing.

Sometimes: Hurt can cover it, disappointment can hide it, frustration can tilt it and offense can cause us to stop reflecting it.

You must adjust your crown- Get your fire back, get your hope up and LIVE! Your crown matters because it tells the world whose you are; the Kings kid.

When people meet you, they should notice something different about you. They should see mercy before judgment. They should see the evidence of God's covenant love resting upon your life.

What a good Father we serve. When we were at our lowest, He didn't walk away. When we could have lost our minds, He kept us. When we could have given up, He strengthened us.

When we should have been destroyed, He redeemed us. And because He is a good Father, He didn't leave us empty-handed-He placed a crown upon our lives.

Every time you look back over your life, you ought to see the fingerprints of a faithful Father who protected you, preserved you, carried you, and loved you through every season.

As you walk into this week, don't carry yourself like someone defeated or abandoned.

Walk like someone who has been redeemed from destruction and crowned by the King of Kings.

What a wonderful time we had in the House of the Lord today - at Mt. Washington Church of God - Pastor Reon Nesmith Jr.

God reminded us through the book of Nehemiah that we must not let anyone steal our joy- the God-given confidence, peace, and strength that remains even when life is challenging; you still are motivated to live full of HOPE and ENJOYMENT!

The enemies of Nehemiah could not stop the work, so they tried to distract the worker. They sent messages, spread rumors, and tried to pull him away from rebuilding the wall. That's what people will do to you when God is blessing your life. They'll send messages, make comments, create distractions, and try to pull you off your assignment. Don't respond to everything.

Tell God about it and keep building. That's exactly what Nehemiah did.

The wall represented the protection, security, and future of God's people. Nehemiah understood that if he came down from the wall, the work would suffer. So he stayed focused and declared, "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down."

ENCOURAGE YOURSELF

The same is true for us. Stay focused, keep building, and remember: the joy of the Lord is your strength!

Light of Salvation Church, family, friends and financial partners:

We are so proud of Nadia on her graduation! Thank you for your prayers, kind words, encouragement, and support throughout this journey.

When we asked Nadia how she wanted to celebrate her graduation, she said she did not desire a party. Instead, she wanted to make memories with family. Because of that, Lady Ashley and I will be gifting her with a graduation cruise in August to celebrate this special accomplishment together.

One thing the pandemic taught our family is that life is not about things-it is about others. It reminded us that time together is precious, memories are priceless, and family is one of God's greatest gifts.

We are especially grateful to see those values blossoming in Nadia. It brings us great joy to see that, when given the choice, her desire was not for a party, but to spend meaningful time with those closest to her and make memories with her family.

Thank you again for loving, supporting, and praying for our family. We appreciate you all!
