Proverbs 1:1
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: (ESV)
Returning to an old practice of mine: the regular (if not daily) sharing of scripture and brief commentary. Back in the early days of social media, when posts had limited numbers of characters, I would as part of my regular office practice share a single verse and comment on it, as a mini-devotional, usually from psalms.
This morning I was reading Psalm 119:97-104 in that longest of Psalms, the alphabetical hymn to God's Word. In so reading I was drawn to the proverbs by verse 104 "Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way."
So I now look to the Proverbs for the LORD's precepts and wisdom to share here. These Proverbs are Solomon's whether authored or collected. One who gains wisdom does not always produce original work, but can find, gain and apply true wisdom wherever he finds it. but also Solomon had the inspiration of the Holy Spirit the same Spirit who superintended and preserved the text that we receive. So in Proverbs we will find much of the "precepts" of the LORD that are celebrated in Psalm 119. I'm looking forward to our sharing it together.
In Christ,
