It’s Tuesday, so that means it’s time for another Meet the Team Tuesday. Each week we recognize one member of the team that makes Cowboy Church on the Rock happen.

If you’ve enjoyed coffee before church at a Sunday morning service, you most likely have Mike Linscomb to thank for that. Mike is a Nederland native and currently works in fire protection services, with a focus on industrial and refinery clients.

Mike spends a lot of time at sporting events cheering on his kids. He also enjoys watching NASCAR and football, especially his beloved Texas Tech Red Raiders and Miami Dolphins.

When he was 17, Mike joined with several of his friends and started a local wrestling company, entertaining friends and family in Southeast Texas. He recently returned to the ring, after stepping away for more than 15 years.

In addition to his weekly coffee duties, Mike currently serves as second in command of our Security and Usher Teams. Most Sundays, it is Mike who arrives first to open the church in preparation for our weekly service. A couple of the other things he handles, mostly behind the scenes, are ensuring tables are set for Meet and Eat or other special events and stocking the refrigerator with bottled water for our attendees to enjoy.

We are thankful Mike and his family are part of our CCOTR family.

Come join us tomorrow morning at Cowboy Church on the Rock. We’ll have hot coffee, some cold soft drinks and bottled water, and probably a donut or two. We have some of the nicest people in town who would love to welcome you in and fellowship with you. You’ll also find great music and a Bible based message. We have Sunday school classes for kids and teens and a nursery available for the little ones.

Don’t forget our two current fundraisers going toward the building fund. We are getting close to the end of our r***e raffle. We have a few tickets still available for it. We also have our limited edition cookbook that we are taking preorders for. They are $25 each and only 100 are being printed. More than half are already sold, so make sure you preorder now.

It’s time for another Meet Our Team Tuesday, where we get the opportunity to recognize one of our amazing team members who make Cowboy Church on the Rock happen.

This week, we meet the man who has known Pastor Kenny longer than anyone – his dad, David Miller. David is from Jennings, Louisiana and currently lives in Nederland, Texas. He is a member of our Praise Team and enjoys singing all the old hymns and praise and worship songs.

David is retired from the rubber plant, Ameripol-Synpol, in Port Neches, Texas. After his retirement, he worked in other fields including time with Philpott Motors helping with various errands and tasks.

As a child, David moved thirteen times between 1st grade and 10th grade because his dad was in the oil field. It was common for families to move around a lot following the oil industry. He met his wife, Miss Ruthie, at a church youth camp. David and Ruthie were married for 61 years before she was called home to heaven in 2024. They truly were sweethearts, and David loves to share stories about her.

David recently started volunteering for a local hospice company, and he has found a renewed purpose in visiting with the families under hospice care. We know he is a blessing to those families!
David also stays busy by raising his chickens and serving those in his neighborhood. He is currently mowing yards for several of his neighbors who are unable to do it themselves!

Many may not realize that David also enjoys cooking and baking. He bakes the most delicious birthday cakes and other sweet treats, and he loves sharing them with friends and family!

We are blessed to have David share his talents with us, and we are thankful he is a part of Cowboy Church on the Rock!
