Esta es una hermosa oportunidad para unirnos como comunidad, compartir nuestra fe y llevar con amor el mensaje de nuestra Madre Santísima de Guadalupe. 🙏🏼

Para poder participar y hacer de este evento una hermosa experiencia, necesitamos de todos.

-CORREDORES- Personas que deseen llevar la Antorcha
-DANZAS - Danzantes que quieran participar
-CARAVANA – Vehículos que quieran acompañar el recorrido.
-DONACIÓN DE COMIDA – Para apoyar y recibir a nuestros hermanos participantes.

Cada persona puede aportar de una manera diferente, pero cada ayuda cuenta. No importa si puedes correr, danzar, acompañar en la caravana o simplemente donar alimentos; lo importante es poner nuestro granito de arena con amor y fe.

¡Que nuestra participación sea una ofrenda a nuestra Madre de Guadalupe y un testimonio de una comunidad unida en la fe!

Los invitamos a participar y a animar también a sus familias y amigos.

CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System honored community partners with the Blessing of the Hands ceremony and awarded grant funds to Anayat House, Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas, Samaritan Counseling Center, Spindletop Center, The Giving Field on Liberty St, and Triangle Area Network. These funds will help continue these ministries in our area and provide resources to our community.

In celebration of our 60th anniversary, we continue to highlight our parish histories. Today, we focus on Our Mother Of Mercy Catholic Church, Ames, TX.
atholicism in Ames dates back more to 1890 when Catholic settlers from Louisiana stopped on their way back from Mexico. They learned of reasonably priced land and decided to settle in Ames. News of their settling spread and soon others followed. There was no church in Ames so Catholic families attended Mass in Liberty. Travel was difficult and the four Catholic families in Ames decided to pool their money to purchase lumber and build a chapel in town. Before they could begin, the lumber and barn where lumber was stored burned. Finally in 1910 they built a chapel, Sacred Heart, and Josephite priests from St. Nicholas Parish in Houston traveled to take care of the people’s religious needs. Father Michael Gumbleton, SSJ, was appointed the first resident pastor of Our Mother of Mercy in 1912. A church building was built in 1913. In 1919, two missions were attached, one at Raywood and one at Dayton. Both mission churches became parishes. In 1929 the present church building was constructed and dedicated to Our Mother of Mercy.

Pope Leo XIV will be admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital “late on Tuesday morning” where he will undergo surgery to remove a “small, localized lung nodule,” requiring changes to his scheduled events, according to Matteo Bruni, Director of the Holy See Press Office.

Responding to journalists’ questions about the Pope’s health on Monday, Mr. Bruni clarified that the examinations had been routine checks.

He confirmed that the Pope’s hospital stay following surgery is expected to last approximately one week.

The Pope will not take part in the afternoon session of the meeting in the Paul VI Hall marking the tenth anniversary of the publication of “Amoris laetitia.”

Pope Leo XIV has also asked Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization and new Dean of the College of Cardinals, to preside at the Mass on Wednesday, October 14, in St. Peter’s Square, with the meeting’s participants, including heads of Eastern Churches, Presidents of Bishops’ Conferences, married couples, and experts.
