Today is day 7 of the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Join us in praying.
O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus:
You know the longings of our hearts, and you desire that we enjoy friendship with you. From your pierced side, you have poured out the wellspring of life, for which we thirst. Your heart burns with a love for all people to return to a right relationship with you. We celebrate the abundant gifts you have given this nation, founded on the self-evident truths that our Creator has endowed all people with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We make reparation for the offenses against you and against human dignity that have taken place in this nation.
May our hearts be united to yours, so that our families and communities enjoy peace and happiness; may broken relationships be reconciled, injustices repaired, and the wounds of our land be healed. May your holy Catholic Church serve as a sign, pointing all people to your infinite love. O Desire of Nations and Center of History, we ask you to bless these United States of America.
Who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

Today is the Feast of Corpus Christi. Let us honor the presence of Christ in the Eucharist by participating in adoration. Together as a Diocese, let us spend 60 hours in adoration this week in honor of our upcoming 60th anniversary.

Annually at the Diocesan Youth Conference, several awards are presented to youth and the adults who work with them. Nominated for the St. Timothy Award for young ladies were Vivienne Cortez, Holy Trinity, Mont Belvieu; Victoria Gonzalez, St. Joseph, Livingston; and Carolina Segura, St. Mark the Evangelist, Silsbee. Vivienne Cortez received the award. Nominated for the St. Timothy Award for young men were Hilario Escoto, St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica; Tristan Flores, St. Charles Borromeo, Nederland; Dominic Fogo, Our Lady of Victory, Sour Lake; Ulises Fraire, St. Mark the Evangelist, Silsbee; Alex Orozco, St. Joseph, Livingston; and Joshua Zamora, Holy Trinity, Mont Belvieu. Dominic Fogo received the Award. In addition, Tristan Flores and Ulises Fraire were given the Servant Heart Award. Receiving the Moore Scholarship were Hilario Escoto, St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica; Mirian Oceguera, St. Joseph, Port Arthur; and Marlen Vides, St. Joseph, Port Arthur. Several adults also received awards. Father Shane Baxter, St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, received the Padre of Youth. Deacon Torivio Gonzalez, St. Joseph, Port Arthur, received Deacon of Youth. For God and Youth was given to Melissa Koebcke, Holy Trinity, Mont Belvieu, and Juan Manuel Mendez, St Joseph, Livingston. Companion on the Journey was given to Father Julius Agah, St Louis, Winnie, and Our Lady of Light, Anahuac. Voted on at DYC were top 3 youth banners and t-shirts. For t-shirt 1st was St Joseph, Port Arthur, 2nd was Our Mother of Mercy, Beaumont and 3rd was St Mary, Fannett. For banner 1st was Our Mother of Mercy, Beaumont, 2nd, St. Joseph, Beaumont and 3rd St. Louis, Winnie. Some of our recipients were unable to be there Saturday.

Friday evening at Diocesan Youth Conference 2026 ended with Adoration followed by Praise and Worship. What a beautiful way to end the day -- more than 1,000 in Adoration with Jesus.

Diocesan Youth Conference 2026 gathered more than 1040 folks registered, clergy, speakers, and more – the largest gathering ever! This year 37 parishes registered youth for this annual event. The opening session featured youth setting the stage and a parade of banners. We love seeing the creativity of the youth!

Wow! Such great talent at the DYC youth talent show on Thursday evening! The evening showcased talent from parishes throughout the diocese -- even our seminarians! And much thanks to our Catholic Cardinals from Campus Ministry at Lamar Catholic Student Center at Lamar University!
