The Word of Faith Christian Church originally was called All Faiths Christian Center and Baton Rouge Church & Word of Faith Ministries. Dr. Lynn Morrison Jr.., founding pastor, was called into full-time ministry in 1988, after answering the call in 1983, where he served faithfully under the stewardship of another man. On Wednesday, January 11, 1995, Dr. Morrison and his wife, First Lady JoAnn held

their first church service. This service took place in the living room of their home located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A sign was constructed and place in front of their home with the shield & sword logo along with Baton Rouge Church & Word of Faith Ministries. That same sign was to be later craved down and taken to the next new site and attached to the front of Dr. Morrison's wooden podium.
