"Who Are Your True Friends?" Proverbs 18:24, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12.
Who are your friends, the ones that hang in there when things don't go well? The ones who know your story and stayed with you through it all. We're talking about a true friend. The ones who show up when life falls apart. You will learn that everybody around you is not assigned to you. Some are for convenience, connection, what they can get from you. True Friends are sent from God for covering and companionship.
1. True Friends are rare and intentional. True friendship is not accidental, it's intentional. You invest in it. Everyone in your circle is not necessarily in your corner. Proximity does not equal loyalty. True friends are consistent. They don't shift with public opinion.
2. True Friends walk with you during difficulty. Two are better than one. They don't just walk with you when it's easy, they walk with you when it's hard. Who's there when you fall, when you're talked about, when you're broken hearted? True friends don't just witness your success, they support you during your struggle.
3. True Friends tell you the Truth in Love. True friends are not just cheerleaders but Truth tellers. They won't let you shift away from God without saying anything. Be careful who you tell your business to. A true friend will risk the relationship to save your life. Real love tells the truth.
4. A True Friend loves, not exposes. True Friends don't put your business in the street. They don't expose your weakness for entertainment. They cover you in prayer. True friends will extend grace, protect your name, and guard your heart. Everyone that knows your story does not deserve access to you.
5. You must evaluate your circle. Jesus is the TRUE model of friendship. He didn't just talk about loyalty, he lived it. He will stay with you during your failures, He won't abandon you! So the question is, Who are your true Friends? Evaluate your circle. Are they helping you to grow or are they holding you back? Are they speaking life or are they feeding you negativity? Your circle can either strengthen your calling or sabotage it! When people fail you, God will never fail you!
