Verse of the Day
for Wednesday, May 20th, 2026
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:5-6

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Unity comes from God's Spirit as we all draw closer to Jesus (John 17:20-21). As we are drawn to Jesus through the Spirit, we immediately find ourselves drawn closer to one another (1 John 1:1-4). Unity also has a purpose much deeper than our getting along with each other. Jesus prayed we would be one so that the world would know that God sent him into the world as the Son to save the world (John 3:16-17, 17:21, 23). We want to be united so that our praise can bring glory to God and lead others to him. Unity is far more than a goal; it is a process through which the world learns of Jesus. At the same time, we glorify the Father who sent Jesus to save us when we live together in unity. Leading others to Jesus and glorifying God are what living for Jesus is all about! Let's make unity one of our deepest passions.

My Prayer...
Great and Almighty God, you are the eternal strength for all who call on your name. I apologize and ask your forgiveness for everything I've done and every word I've spoken that has hurt others in your family. I do not want to cause a wound to the unity of your Body, the church. So please, bless my efforts as I seek less of my will, long to live for your glory, and seek to draw close and encourage others. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Saturday, May 16th, 2026
The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
I still remember trying to learn to affirm my son's value to him. I didn't know exactly what that looked like or what I was supposed to do or say. Then, the Holy Spirit gently reminded me of what God the Father did to affirm Jesus the Son at his baptism.

"You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased" (Luke 3:21).

God affirmed his relationship with Jesus, "You are my Son..." God affirmed his love and affection for Jesus, "...my Son, whom I love..." God affirmed his delight in Jesus, "...with you I am well pleased."
Zephaniah reminds us that the Father feels much the same about us as his children: "He will take great delight in you..." On top of that, he calms us with his love and rejoices over us in singing! God sees and values us as his children. He calms us in our fears and sings lullabies over us in his joy. We are his children whom he loves and in whom he takes delight!

My Prayer...
O God, I pray that when the storms of life rage against me, I will remember these precious words and find my refuge, comfort, identity, acceptance, and peace in your sheltering care. Please, dear Father, make me more aware of your singing over me and your delight in me. Through my Savior Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Thursday, May 14th, 2026
You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139:13-14

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
You are made by God. Just as surely as ANYone has been made by God, we have been made by God. He knew us before anyone knew we were in the womb. He knew us before our mother had even felt our flutter inside of her. God had plans for us before anyone even planned our arrival. He fashioned us for his purpose with plans for our lives. He made us purposely, faithfully, and he made us wonderfully. We are wonderfully made by a loving Creator!

My Prayer...
God Almighty, my Savior and Redeemer, thank you for knowing me before I was able to know. Thank you for choosing my life and giving it to me. Thank you for giving me the gifts, abilities, and talents that you have given me. Now, dear Father, please help me to live with a reverential awareness that you fashioned me and knew me before my mother knew I was in her womb. O, Father, and please reawaken me to the sanctity and sacredness of every other person I meet, realizing that you fashioned and knew them from their conception, too! Through Jesus, I pray and thank you that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Saturday, May 9th, 2026
A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies ... She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.
Proverbs 31:10, 27-28

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Give honor to whom honor is due is what Paul commanded the believers in Rome to do (Romans 13:7). Giving proper honor is important. We must give godly women the honor they are due, and doubly so to those who are godly mothers, whether their motherhood is physical or spiritual. Proverbs demonstrates this by devoting an entire chapter to the principle of honoring godly women (Proverbs 31:1-31). Paul also emphasized the vital role women played among the believers in Rome as he closed his letter to them, and dedicated much of chapter 16 to honoring them. He named ten women who made significant contributions in leadership and service to the Kingdom of God that are worthy of respect and honor (Romans 16:1-16). Paul also emphasized to his apprentice, Timothy, the vital role his mother and grandmother played in shaping him to become a man of God with sincere faith (2 Timothy 1:5). So, dear friends, let's make sure we praise the key women in our lives, families, and congregations today!

My Prayer...
Father, I want to thank you for the women of character and grace, tenderness and fire, love and tenacity, who have helped shape my life. Thank you for the ways they helped me know your Scriptures, know Jesus, demonstrate faithfulness, and find, follow, and faithfully serve you. Please bless them this day. I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Friday, May 8th, 2026
Make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Colossians 4:5-6

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
When presented with an opportunity, we choose to do and say kind things because Jesus has called us to that. He challenged us to be salt that adds savor and preservation to the world's hopelessness and decay (Matthew 5:13). He called us to be light that casts out the world's darkness (Matthew 5:14-16). We are committed to acting in ways that are kind and beneficial to others, especially with our speech. We pray for opportunities to be kind and encouraging because we want what we say to benefit others (Ephesians 4:29). This verbal kindness is an indication of the Holy Spirit's presence (Galatians 5:22-23) as the Spirit conforms us to our Savior's kindness and character (2 Corinthians 3:18). This kind of salty speech — not the profane, crude, and coarse speech often identified as salty talk — is an intentional effort to treat others with gentleness and respect because we want them to know our hope in Jesus (1 Peter 3:15-16). Let's make the most of every opportunity to say good words that bless others and lead them to Jesus!

My Prayer...
Father, please forgive me for the careless words I have uttered this week. I understand that these careless words are sins in two ways. First, it is a sin because I said unkind and hurtful things. And second, it is a sin because I wasted an opportunity to be redemptive and helpful with my speech. Open my eyes, dear Lord, so that I can better see those people you have placed in my path to bless and encourage. Through the blessed name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Thursday, May 7th, 2026
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Where does your heart live? That's what these verses remind us to ask ourselves. They challenge us to notice where we spend the most time and what we focus on most in our hearts. Is there a constant awareness in our lives that God is present? Is he the unseen but always present companion in all our ups and downs? Or is God with us when it is convenient and gone when things are busy, or you feel that everything is going well? Joy comes from knowing we are never alone. Prayer is the ongoing conversation we have, spirit to Spirit, child to Abba, human with God. Thanksgiving and joy are great reminders that we have been lavishly blessed, regardless of what our temporary outward circumstances suggest. Being joyful, praying continually, and giving thanks in all situations is God's will for us. Why? Because practicing these three things orients us away from the momentary challenges that don't compare to the glory that he in us with Jesus (Romans 8:18-19).

My Prayer...
Precious and Righteous Father, thank you for being with me, always. Please, dear Abba, use the Spirit to nourish in me a deeper appreciation and a more profound awareness of your presence. May my life reflect the joy you have given me by saving me through your grace. And may my heart always give thanks for my home with you in anticipation of the day when that home is fully realized. Through the name of Jesus, my Savior and friend, I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Wednesday, May 6th, 2026
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5:16

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
To confess our sins means we do two things with our sins:

We recognize sin for what it is in God's eyes.
We get rid of our secrets and are honest with another Christian about our weaknesses, vulnerabilities, failures, then have them pray for us to overcome those sins.
James' language is powerful. He mentions that this confession doesn't just bring forgiveness, it brings healing. So, let's confess our sins to each other, and pray for each other, so we can bring healing to relationships, the family of God, and be a demonstration of reconciliation and healing to the world.

My Prayer...
Holy Father, I have sinned. I now confess my own personal sins of the following things: ____________. I ask for your forgiveness and for your Spirit to strengthen me to overcome temptation as I pursue Jesus with all my heart. I want to live for you and not let my sin, any sin, entangle me and draw me away from you. Through the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen

Verse of the Day
for Friday, May 1st, 2026
Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Hebrews 11:6

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
I believe!
I believe that God not only knows me, but cares about me.
I believe that God not only created the universe, but he also knows the number of hairs on my head. I believe that God not only sent his Son to save the world, but that he's sending him back to bring me home.
What's more, I believe that God is pleased by my belief. And even on my worst days when it is hard, I pray, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief" (Mark 9:24).
I believe, and I know that pleases
God!

My Prayer...
Almighty God, most holy Lord, I thank you for your steadfast love and enduring faithfulness. I thank you for your grace and mercy. I thank you for your might and power. I thank you for your awesome holiness. I thank you for being you and choosing to reveal yourself to mortals like me. I believe in you, dear Father, and in those times of deepest struggle, I still believe but ask for your grace and help to overcome my unbelief. Through Jesus, your final Word, I believe and pray. Amen

Verse of the Day
for Thursday, April 30th, 2026
Speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
Ephesians 4:15

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Speaking the truth is hard enough. You mean we have to do it in love? Yes, if we are to be Jesus' women or men, we must speak to others as he did. As the Spirit grows us up to become more like Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:18), we will share our hope in Jesus with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15-16), just as Jesus spoke to the lost who were seeking him. Our goal in speaking with others is not to win arguments, but to win hearts to the Savior.

My Prayer...
Father, forgive me for the bitterness in my heart and unfairness on my lips. Through your Spirit, help me better use my speech to bless others and glorify you. May I speak your truth with your love today in all my conversations. Through him who is Truth and Love I pray. Amen.

04/27/2026

Verse of the Day
for Monday, April 27th, 2026
The Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.
Luke 19:10

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Jesus' opponents said that he was "a friend of tax collectors and sinners" (Luke 7:34). Of all the things people called Jesus, I believe that was one of his favorites. Come to think of it, I believe it's my favorite, too! Jesus came to seek and save all of us who are lost because God wanted us to find salvation in Jesus (John 3:16-17). He did this when we were "powerless," "ungodly," "sinners," and "God's enemies" (Romans 5:6, 8, 10). So, let's praise God that Jesus is not only "a friend of tax collectors and sinners,", but he also came to be our friend, to save us, and to bring us back to God (Romans 5:10;
2 Corinthians 5:20)

My Prayer...
Almighty God, while I know you hate sin and the havoc it creates in our lives, I am so thankful that when you came to earth as Jesus, Immanuel, God with us, you were not our judge but our Savior. You came to make us your friends and family. I promise to live today more aware of your love for the lost because I know what it means to be found by you. Thank you! Praise you! I pray in deep appreciation for all you have done and by the power of Jesus' name. Amen.

Verse of the Day
for Friday, April 24th, 2026
You know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
1 Peter 1:18-19

Thoughts on Today's Verse...
If value is determined by price, we are incredibly valuable to God. Our Father took the most precious treasure of heaven and redeemed us out of sin, evil, and death to adopt us into his family through Jesus' sacrifice. Silver and gold pale in comparison to that value. Without this redemption, we were in a mess. We were trapped in "the empty way of life handed down to us". To know the depth of that empty way of life, we need to remember who we were before Christ (Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 5:6):

Dead in our transgressions and sins.
Following the ways of the evil ruler of the spiritual realm, who is at work among the disobedient.
Gratifying the cravings of our flesh.
By nature deserving of God's wrath.
Powerless and ungodly sinners living as enemies of God.
But God chose to redeem us in love through "the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect." Now that we are redeemed, Christ presents us to God as "holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation" (Colossians 1:22). We are redeemed, bought out of our slavery to the emptiness of the sinful life the world chooses. So, dear brothers and sisters, let's live as who God has made us to be: valuable and precious to our Father!

My Prayer...
Holy God, may I live each day more aware of my inestimable value to you. May my words, thoughts, and actions be permeated with your sense of my worth and not my regrets for a past life wasted on the empty ways of the world; not so that I might seem important to others, but so that I might display your holiness and righteous character in my life, bringing glory to you for the incredible gift of grace in Jesus. Through whom I pray. Amen.
