When we think of stepping into a relationship with Jesus, we often think that it will be easy and that our lives will be better.
But the reality is that life actually can get tougher. Our flesh desires the opposite of what our Spirit desires, and our Spirit desires God.
Our prayer today is that Paul can be surrounded by the overwhelming love that comes from Jesus.
His situation reminds us of a powerful story in Mark 9. A father brought his son, who was possessed by an impure spirit, to Jesus' disciples, but they were unable to help him. When Jesus arrived, the father pleaded, "If you can do anything, take pity on us and help us."
Jesus responded, "If you can? Everything is possible for one who believes."
Then the father prayed one of the most honest and relatable prayers found in Scripture:
"I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24)
How often do we find ourselves in that same place? We believe, yet we still struggle with doubt. We trust God, yet we wrestle with fear and uncertainty.
The beautiful truth is that it is often through our weakness and unbelief that we draw closer to Jesus. May we ask God to strengthen our faith, help us overcome our doubts, and remind us that He is faithful—even when we don't have all the answers.
