I think we can all agree that there's enough disagreement in the world today, right? And it feels like life is more contentious than ever before, at least that's how it feels to me. But, as long as people have been near enough to see one another, there's been conflict. It happens today, just like it did 2000 years ago in a small church in a small town called Philippi between two members.
Paul wrote a letter to the church, and in it he recognized the problem. He gave the church some great advice, which included some direction towards joy, as opposed to trying to be happy. Let's put down roots and be determined to stand tall.
We're going to explore that advice tomorrow, and hope you can join us at 9:00, either here online, or live in person in the sanctuary. We're singing some songs you probably have sung to yourself when things were going well, like "It is Well With My Soul"; and some for when you struggle to stand against the storms of life, "I Shall Not Be Moved", and one for when you feel alone, but remember you aren't-"What A Friend We Have In Jesus". Our Scripture is Philippians 4:1-9.
