A beautiful service today with our annual Flower Communion, a tradition started in the 1920’s in Czechoslovakia to unite UU members who came from various religious and spiritual backgrounds through the beauty of nature.

Folks were encouraged to bring flowers from their neighborhoods, garden, or other natural spaces to give to others: each leaving with a different flower than they arrived with. 🌻

Celebrating how we all come from different places and spaces but are united through a gift of friendship.

We had a full house for the beautiful overlap of crafting, art and community. 🎨🏘️

🚨 tomorrow is not our traditional fifth Sunday service, instead we’re doing:

CrafterChurch 🎨
10:30AM: Crafts!
11:45AM: Short Service
12:30PM: Sandwich Bar Lunch
1:30PM: Workshop

You do not have to be an expert creative to attend. All levels welcome from “last time I did a craft was grade school” level to “this is what I do to recharge” level. All supplies provided. 💖

We’ve had some wonderful hiking weather lately! Grab your trail mix, lace up your hiking boots, and bring along the kiddos or a friend and come with us on this month’s hike. 🥾🌤️

We will be hiking at the Stephenson Nature Preserve for just about 3 miles, with options to add other paths if you want more or hop off when you need to head home.

What a gorgeous day for an Eco Fair ☀️

Thank you to everyone who supported our dream of hosting a no-buy, environmentally conscious day of free, family fun!

We made buttons from old magazines and calendars. We learned how to sort our waste into the proper bins. We learned how to throw a ball with two sticks (even if we kept wanting to just use one…). AND many folks properly disposed of their more difficult items with our friends at .

Shoutout to our amazing partners with , , and IREP who supported us with their presence and know-how.

We 💚 seeds so we turned them into some seed balls with some water, a bunch of scrap paper, and newspaper that gave us smudged fingers.

When you come to the Eco Fair, you can pick up some to plant on your yard! The seeds are “Hummers & Singers”, a mix from - local growers who have a passion for supporting native bioregions. 🌱

These are great tools to start your own wildflower garden and will be a perfect match for the Living Soil demonstration provided by .

Hmmm, we wonder what the volunteers have planned for these repurposed plastic bottles at the Eco Fair??? 🌳

What kinds of activities can YOU do with old bottles at home? Maybe make some art, make something for the garden, make a game out of it - guess we’ll have to find out on Saturday.

We welcomed nine new Wildflowers into our community on Sunday. We’ve already been so touched by their smiling faces, spirits of service, gifts of music, souls of connection, and hearts of kindness. 💖

One even shared a reflection about the power of water in shifting our perspectives and work through the magic of sacred healing - as part of our annual Earth Day service. The river. The well. The flood waters. The ocean. 💙
