Our Church and Community (C&C) Circle traditionally celebrates the end of the September-to-May PW "year" by gathering for lunch and fellowship. C&C member Cheryl Womack opened her lovely home; and the Circle members arrived with their tasty salads, sweet desserts, and many life events to discuss. A delightful afternoon was had by all. Ladies, have a happy summer and join us again for the September 2026 PW meeting.

Six members of our Peachtree Presbyterian Women’s group took a road trip to Montreat, N.C., to dedicate new benches our PW gave to the Presbyterian Heritage Center (PHC) in memory of Jan Jacobsen Perrett. Jan was a well-loved PW past moderator, and she enjoyed visiting Montreat every summer of her life. Plaques were placed on the benches honoring Jan’s memory. The PHC has held PW archives since the early 1900’s. Our six members spent time with the PHC museum’s new director, Anne Chesky, discussing the importance of preserving the heritage of the Presbyterian church.

The Honorary Life Membership program of Presbyterian Women was established in the early 1900’s to honor faithful service to God’s Kingdom through Presbyterian Women, the church, or the wider community. Candidates for this award are nominated by PW members. The Life Membership Committee, consisting of previously-awarded Honorary Life Members, reviews the nominations and selects new recipients. We were pleased to announce during our May PW meeting today that Ann Marie Hanlon and Mary Jane Sharpe have been selected as Honorary Life Members of Presbyterian Women. Congratulations ladies. Well done, faithful servants in the Kingdom of God.

Today was the last monthly meeting of our very busy 2025-2026 year. Outgoing PW Moderator Marcia Macy presented an overview of our monthly Bible studies, missions projects, and social activities since September of 2025. We thank Marcia, her outgoing leadership team, our Bible study leaders, and our PW members for all that they did to keep PW focused on “joining Christ daily in the Restoration of All Things.”

In preparation for the 2026-2027 year, Reverend Scott Tucker installed our incoming officers who will be led by incoming Moderator Ginger Scott. We thank these new officers for their willingness to serve.

To celebrate the past and look forward to the future we enjoyed a luncheon on the outside patio, complete with an exquisite and delicious cake baked and decorated by our own Marcia Macy. Members had fun talking about their hats and their plans for the summer. Everyone, take a break, and remember our next meeting will be in September!

A new missions project for our PW members before we break for the summer is the Murphy-Harpst home in Cedartown, Georgia. Murphy-Harpst has been a Christian-based mission for over 100 years, providing care for vulnerable children referred to them by local and state agencies. This organization provides hope and healing for Georgia’s most vulnerable children, those suffering from lifetimes of severe trauma and neglect. Murphy-Harpst provides residential treatment, foster care, and local group homes to give children safe and nurturing environments in which they can heal and thrive.

In our May PW meeting today our members donated pool supplies for the youth at Murphy-Harpst home. Members gave 91 new beach towels as well as bags of full-sized bottles of suntan lotion, new swim goggles, and assorted pool toys all for an estimated value of $1,367. Members smiled as they thought of the joy that the children at Murphy-Harpst will experience swimming with other kids all summer long.

As we near the end of our very busy 2025-2026 session, we hosted our wonderful church staff to a delicious and fun lunch buffet in Fellowship Hall. We served more than 40 specialties created by our PW members, many of whom also stayed to visit with our church staff. Everyone enjoyed the food, the lively conversation, and the opportunity to get to know church staff we had not met before!

A few members of our Good News Circle recently served dinner at Covenant House. Per the Covenant House website, it is "the largest, primarily privately funded charity in North and Central America providing immediate and long-term support for young people facing homelessness and survivors of trafficking." Helping young people is rewarding and also a lot of fun, as you can see by looking at the faces of our volunteers.

We saw a lot of WINNING during our PW GAME DAY event today. There was WINNING with Food, Fun, and Fellowship; and there was WINNING for Game Day participants who learned new games. Greater than that was the WINNING with collection of generous donations to support the Lion Pride Foundation at Lake Forest Elementary School in Sandy Springs, GA. The funds we collected will provide individual, targeted reading and math tutoring for select students, especially those in the fourth and fifth grades. The ultimate WINNERS from today will be the students who we expect will make significant academic improvement with the individualized help they receive.

Our first PW service project for 2026 was to collect new socks for men, women, and children served by MUST Ministries. MUST Ministries addresses the basic needs of individuals, families, and children with facilities in the Cobb and Cherokee counties and clients in 8 Georgia counties. Their clothing centers meet a very important need of the people they serve, and certainly warm socks are critical in the winter. Thanks to our generous members we were able to collect 1,216 pairs of new, warm socks! Thank you to PW member Susan Tilke for delivering the donations to MUST Ministries after our meeting on Monday.

Our PW members hosted a dinner last night for Peachtree's musicians before their last rehearsal for the 7 Christmas Eve services they will support. Our PW ladies did what they do well by serving delicious homemade sandwiches, side dishes, and desserts on tables decorated with care. The volunteers in the adult Handbells and Chancel Choir enjoyed feasting and spending time with each other prior to all of the busyness of Christmas week. Each musician left feeling loved and carrying a gift bag with treats and a wooden musical tree ornament. Thank you to the many PW members who prepared the food with love and to those who decorated the tables and served last night. Well done ladies!
