This weekend really showed me something about First Baptist Church.
When I first became pastor here a little over two years ago, I said over and over again that First Baptist Church was the most loving church I had ever been a part of. And now, more than two years later, I can say from the bottom of my heart that First Baptist Church of Newnan is still the most loving church I have ever been a part of.
And I don’t say that only because of the way you have loved me and my family. I say it because of the way I see you love each other and the way you love this community.
This weekend was an incredible picture of that.
More than 25% of our church was engaged in OASIS, our outreach to the city during Porchfest, where we had the opportunity to minister to thousands of people who came downtown for the music. To see that many people from our church volunteer, serve, give up their time, and simply show the love of Jesus to our city was amazing.
And then we came back Sunday morning for Bless Sunday, and I was blown away all over again.
So many of you prayed. You invited. You brought people you care about into our church community. And to see so many guests walk through our doors because somebody loved them enough to pray for them, invite them, and bring them was just incredible.
That is what love looks like.
Loving God.
Loving each other.
And loving our community, our city, and our county in the name of Jesus.
I just want you to know how encouraged I am and how excited I am about what God is doing at First Baptist Church.
And if you thought I was excited this past Sunday, you better get ready for the Sundays ahead, because I am more excited than ever to be part of a church that is actually living out what life in Christ looks like.
I love you all, and I hope you are as encouraged as I am.
God is doing something special at First Baptist Church of Newnan.
Pastor Joel
“Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.”
