Atchison County Food Pantry at First Christian Church

We will have our regular Friday afternoon drive-through food pantry this Friday, September 4th, from 1pm-3pm at the Santa Fe entrance to the church. This food pantry is open to all Atchison County residents who need food assistance. Enter the drive-through lane by entering the church parking lot from the alley on North 8th from the south. Walkups are welcome but bring your own cart. And thanks to the Outreach Committee, CWF, and Church Board of First Christian Church, as well as all the other contributors to the recent Match Day event at the Atchison Foundation and throughout the year for making these pantries possible.

We are very thankful to the individuals and organizations that contributed to our Match Day at the Atchison Foundation event yesterday evening. We were able to raise more than $25,000 at this event to help battle food insecurity in Atchison County, and I believe this will qualify us for an additional $5,000 in matching funds. We are deeply grateful.

Help our food pantry feed Atchison County’s food insecure population this Friday August 14th by participating in Atchison Foundation AllAboardAtchison Match Day Fundraiser. ONE DAY ONLY! Atchison Event Center, 4pm-7pm or online at allaboardatchison. com from 12am-11:59pm. So far this year we have provided food at our Friday afternoon drive-through and walk up food pantries to 2,662 Atchison County households including 6,385 children, adults and seniors that need food assistance. Truck 🛻 not for sale 🤔.

As we have not been getting enough rescued food, including produce, from our Feeding America partners, we are discontinuing our Monday produce distributions, including tomorrow, Monday, August 3rd. We WILL CONTINUE our biweekly Friday afternoon drive-through food pantries, including this Friday, August 7th, from 1PM-3PM, at the Santa Fe entrance to the church. Thank you to the kiddos who attended the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) - Atchison, KS Vacation Bible School this year for their donation to our Food Pantry. The group raised $364.46!! And thank you to Blair Burton for being such a good sport in the water dunk chair as the reward for this challenge to raise monies. We greatly appreciate all of you!
