In response to the U.S. bishops' consecration of our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, our parish is working to consecrate more and more homes to His Sacred Heart through the beautiful tradition of Home Enthronement.

We are seeking parishioners who would like to serve on an Enthronement Team, helping families prepare for and celebrate the enthronement of their homes. If you are interested in being part of this ministry, please contact the parish office!

Today, we honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a heart that burns of love for each and every one of us, as if we were the only person to love. ❤️‍🔥
The message Jesus gives to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a simple nun in late sixteenth-century France, follows this same story of God’s infinite love -- divine love comes to us through Christ, who takes on our own human flesh and has a human heart. This love desires nothing short of our salvation and sanctification.

Take some time to honor the Sacred Heart by praying the Litany of the Sacred Heart today!

Join us this week for our two Town Hall meetings to discuss new proposals for Mass times. This is in response to the two surveys that were put out last year. Come for dinner or for ice cream and let us know how these changes would affect you, your family, and your friends.

St. Benedict Parish hosted the Atchison Deanery Corpus Christi procession this afternoon on this Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. 🙏 The rain held off just long enough for the procession to enter St. Benedict Church for Benediction. ☔️

After the procession, families enjoyed fellowship and food, courtesy of the Knights of Columbus and several families, at St. Benedict Catholic School. 🤝

All are welcome to celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi by participating in the Atchison Deanery Eucharistic Procession TOMORROW, Sunday, June 7, at 4pm. The procession will begin inside St. Benedict Church and conclude back in the church with Solemn Benediction. Please see the map for the procession route. First Holy Communicants are invited to wear their First Communion attire and lay flowers before the Blessed Sacrament.

Following Benediction, we will gather at St. Benedict Catholic School for food and fellowship. Please bring a dish to share that serves approximately 20 people. Families with last names A–N are asked to bring a dessert and families with last names O–Z are asked to bring a side dish.

In case of rain, we will have a Holy Hour at St. Benedict Church; the reception will still be at SBCS.

Today, we praise God for Father Jeremy's "yes" to the priesthood 16 years ago! We are incredibly grateful for all that he does for our parish and for how he leads us with humility, faithfulness, and obedience to the Lord.

Please offer a Glory Be for Father Jeremy today, and let us remember to continue to pray for all of our priests, especially those ordained this Spring!

The Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus begins today!

We encourage all the faithful, families, parishes, and communities across the Archdiocese to participate.

This year, the Novena carries special significance as we lead up to the historic moment on June 11, when the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops will solemnly renew the Consecration of our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Pray the novena here: https://bit.ly/4dJLM2s

Let us prepare our hearts and offer our prayers for our country, that it may be renewed in faith, hope, and charity. Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place our trust in You!

Please pray for Thomas' and Johnny's discernment.

Thank you all who have participated in the archdiocesan pastoral planning process over the past few months through the Beatitudes small groups and listening sessions. Archbishop McKnight is asking for all in our community to take part in sharing your thoughts, experiences, and hopes for the archdiocese by taking the survey below. You can take the survey starting TODAY, June 1 until Monday, June 22: https://tinyurl.com/heartlandkck

Your voice is needed! From June 1 to June 22, please participate in the vital third phase of our archdiocesan pastoral planning process by completing a brief online survey In English at https://tinyurl.com/heartlandkck or in Spanish at https://tinyurl.com/espheartlandkck .

In 2026, the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas launched a pastoral planning process called Renewal from the Heartland, and I am excited to share this opportunity for you to participate in its third phase.

The first phase, Beatitudes from the Heartland, was a small group series offering reflections on scripture and Church documents regarding the responsibilities we all share as baptized Catholics within our parishes and other ecclesial communities.

The second phase, Listening with the Heart, offered prayerful settings for people from all walks of life to listen to one another regarding two prompts: 1) Please share a story about your experience with the Church that has shaped you. 2) What is the Holy Spirit asking of us?

This third phase is an Archdiocesan-wide Synodal Survey built directly from responses collected from 1000+ phase 2 participants. Responses from both phases 2 and 3 will serve as the source material for the archdiocesan pastoral planning process which I will initiate at a diocesan convocation for parish leaders on September 12, 2026.

I urge you to participate in the survey. Your voice is vital to the mission of the Church in our archdiocese!
