Tomorrow, we gather for worship at 10:30 AM.
In our gospel lesson, Jesus shares about God's plan for him. It includes suffering and death. Peter protests and Jesus strongly reminds him. "You are setting your mind on human ways, not on God's ways." How do we set our mind on God's ways when we cannot even fathom them? Jesus' encourages a way of life where we deny ourselves and follow, save through losing, and finding life through losing all. How? We follow the one who does it for and in us.

For many of us it is time to return to our more typical schedules. Remember to schedule around worship and its blessings first. All else will make sense from there.

In our gospel lesson, Jesus inquires, But you, who do you say that I am? Peter boldly confesses, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." Jesus declares that the church will be built on the rock of Peter’s bold confession of faith. We then hear that God’s word of reconciliation and God’s mercy are keys to the church’s mission.

Tomorrow worship begins at 10:30 AM. Worship includes the Blessing of the Backpacks.

We turn to Genesis tomorrow and focus on a scene where Jacob's family of 12 sons and 1 daughter are in danger of starvation and deep poverty. We listen, study and are transformed by this multi-chapter epic that culminates in the story we hear. We find out that God has been at work in a family deeply scarred and separated by past regrets and sins. The family comes to recognize God at work and is reconciled. Gospel news we can live by in our homes, extended families and small town communities.
