REGARDING MEMBER-SPONSORED EVENTS AT THE CHURCH
Hi family!
As many of you know, our church members are able to reserve and use the church gym for personal events and, from time to time, events where the general public may be invited. Over the years, this has included birthday parties, wedding showers, and other gatherings. This has always been a normal part of how we serve our church family.
Because of that, there may occasionally be an event taking place in our facilities that someone assumes is being hosted or endorsed by the church, when in reality the facility is simply being used by one of our members. As long as the activity is consistent with Scripture and does not violate church policy, we have generally been glad to make the facility available.
One of our church members is currently running for public office and has asked to host an event in our gym. We are permitting him to use the facility under the same general principle: **the event is not being hosted or sponsored by the church.** Rather, we are allowing a member of our church family to use the facility as we have allowed other members to do.
We also want to deal fairly and in good faith with everyone in our church family. Scripture reminds us that the Lord hates dishonest or unequal scales, and we want to be consistent and fair in the way we treat our people.
I hope this brings a little clarification and helps prevent any misunderstanding about the event or the church's involvement.
