Week 9 — The Kingdom of Trust
Matthew 6:19–34
Summary:
In a world marked by worry, uncertainty, and constant striving, Jesus invites us into a different way of living—the way of trust. In Matthew 6:19–34, Jesus teaches that our treasures reveal our loyalties, our worries expose where we place our trust, and true freedom is found in seeking God’s Kingdom first. Rather than being ruled by anxiety about tomorrow, Kingdom people learn to rest in the care of a loving Father who knows their needs and faithfully provides. Jesus does not call us to ignore life’s challenges but to face them with confidence, knowing that God’s presence and provision are greater than our fears.
Bottom Line:
Kingdom people are not ruled by anxiety because they are rooted in the Father’s care.
Key Verse:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33 (ESV)

May We Become a Movement That Is Moving Again

Reflections on Ministry Conference, EFCP, EFCNA, EFM, and a growing conviction that God is not finished with the Evangelical Friends Church. As I reflect on those experiences, I find myself carrying something I have not felt this strongly in a long time: Hope. Not the kind of hope that ignores reality. REad PASTOR DONNIE'S SUBSTACK READ HERE The reality is that many churches across America are struggling....

Week 8 — Practicing Piety Without Performance
Matthew 6:1–18
Summary:
Jesus challenges the temptation to turn spiritual practices into public performance. Through giving, prayer, and fasting, He invites us away from seeking the approval of others and into a deeper, hidden life with the Father. True spiritual formation happens not when we are seen by people, but when we cultivate intimacy with God in the secret places of our lives.
Bottom Line:
Spiritual practices are about being with God, not being seen by others.

WK-4 – From Dust to Dawn: The Journey Toward Easter

From Dust to Dawn: The Journey Toward Easter There are moments in the life of a church where you can feel that God is doing something deeper than just a series of sermons. This Lent season has been one of those moments for us at Neighborhood Friends Church. We began with a simple but grounding truth: we are dust.Formed by God, dependent on His breath, and invited into a life shaped by His presence....

From Dust to Breath

A Beautiful Beginning This past Sunday at Neighborhood Friends Church was one of those mornings that reminds you God is always doing more than we expect. We came prepared to baptize two people. We ended up baptizing seven. What unfolded throughout the service was something sacred and spontaneous—people responding to the invitation of Jesus and stepping forward to publicly declare their faith through baptism. It was a beautiful way to begin our Lenten series, From Dust to Dawn. Read More on Donnie's Substack

From Dust to Dawn: Week 1: Remember You Are Dust

This Sunday, we begin our Lenten journey together with a new series titled From Dust to Dawn. Lent is a season that invites us to slow down, reflect deeply, and return to what is true. Before we rush toward Easter morning, we begin with something quieter, humbler, and surprisingly freeing: “Remember you are dust.” Those words may sound heavy at first....
